Chapter 2
Warren lied on the grass in the middle of the clearing in the woods, looking up at the stars. (I forgot to mention that it was night in the previous chapter too.) A shooting star flew across the sky.
"I've never seen a shooting star before," he said to himself.
"It shall be the only one you see in your life," came a vibrating and cold voice.
He jumped up to see a humanoid demon that was made of a bunch of blades; it had long, extremely sharp fingers. It had no eyes, but it had a mouth with hundreds of teeth that were sharper than its claws.
"You look like I nice cutting-doll," the demon said, wiggling its fingers. It dove at Warren, fingers forward, but Warren fell to the side to dodge.
Warren and the demon faced each other. The demon hissed and blades stuck up all over its body. It started spinning incredibly fast and started moving toward Warren. He backed away as the blade-tornado got closer. There was no way he could fight back without a weapon. Even with the slow movement of the blade-tornado, he wouldn't be able to stay away forever. And he couldn't escape and let the demon roam lose.
The demon continued following Warren, and when it was in the exact center of the clearing, something came down from the sky and hit the demon with so much force, it created an explosion. Warren was thrown out of the clearing by the wind and dirt and rocks from the explosion.
He hit a tree outside of the clearing, knocking out some of his breath. He fell to all fours and coughed. Some of his clothes were torn and he was covered with dirt.
He wiped off some of the dirt from his face and went back to the clearing, but it wasn't there. The clearing was replaced by a large crater. There was something in the crater, but Warren couldn't see it through the dust that was still in the air. He coughed and waved his hand in front of his face to keep the dust from his face
As the dust cleared, he could see that the object in the crater was a large rock, an asteroid! It was dark grey, but it glowed.
"What the hell?" Warren said, sliding down the crater to the rock. He felt a tingling feeling all over his body as he got closer to it. It somehow felt familiar.
"What the hell?!"
He turned around to see Alice at the top of the crater. She looked even more surprised than he was. But he was more afraid than surprised. Afraid of what the asteroid could be, and of the glow, and of the tingling he felt. He didn't trust it.
"Where are Jason and Daniel?" Warren asked as Alice slid down.
"They're coming," Alice said, "What is this?"
"Some sort of asteroid. Do you see the glowing?"
"Yes, who wouldn't?!" She looked at it closely.
"Do you," he hesitated, "feel a tingling?"
She looked at him, "No. Do you?"
"Yeah, I-"
"Holy crap!" Jason yelled as he and Daniel were at the top of the crater.
They slid down next to Warren and Alice.
"This is very interesting," Daniel said. He knocked on it; it made no sound.
"Yes, very interesting."
They spun around to see demons of different looks surrounded them at the top of the crater. There was no way to escape from there.
"The Demon Steel sent from the Demon King is here," said the demon that spoke before.
"Demon Steel?" Warren said, "What's that? And sent by the Demon King?"
"There's no need to explain to you," said a demon near the first one, "Get it!"
All of the demons around them, jumped toward them, but the so called "Demon Steel" glowed brighter and brighter until the light was everywhere and blinded everything that was in it. Then all the demons screamed and howled and growled as they dissolved in the light.
When the light dimmed down to its original glow and the group could see, the demons were gone. They looked at the large rock in amazement.
"This thing destroyed all of the demons!" Alice said.
"We could make weapons out of this to fight against them," Warren said.
"And I know who can help us," Jason said.
A few days after the "Demon Steel" incident.
Warren and Alice haven't seen or talked to Jason or Daniel. A dome has been built over the crater, and that's where Warren and Alice suspect they are. There's a door on the dome, but it's locked. Occasionally, they see smoke coming from a hole in the middle of the dome.
Finally, they've been called to the dome in the middle of the day. Before they could knock on the dome, out comes Daniel from the door.
"Come in," he said, and then went back in with the door open.
"Close the door," Jason yelled as Warren and Alice walked in; Warren did.
Inside, they saw a furnace of some sort in the middle of the crater with a tube leading to the hole in the ceiling of the dome. An anvil was next to it, and tools used for blacksmithing hung from hooks around the ceiling. There were old oil lamps hanging between the tools. It was also very warm inside, so they soon started sweating. Jason and Daniel created a blacksmithing workshop.
"What is this?" Alice asked.
"Obviously, a blacksmithing workshop," Warren said (didn't I say that?).
"Yes!" Jason yelled from behind the furnace.
"We've crafted weapons to fight against demons," Daniel explained.
"That was my idea," Warren said raising and lowering his hand.
"Yes," Daniel continued, "I think you'll like this."
"For Alice, we made a dual-bladed scythe," said Jason coming out from behind the furnace carrying just that: a scythe with two long blades made out of the Demon Steel at the top and the stick curve at the bottom. The Demon Steel no longer glowed.
He handed the scythe to Alice who held it with both hands and examined it, "Awesome."
"For me," Jason said, "We crafted two small dual-bladed battle axes." (What I mean by "small" battle axes, I mean short-handles.)
"And for Warren," Daniel said, "we made a katana."
Jason came forward with a sheathed katana. He handed it to Warren.
"Be careful with it," Jason said, "It has some strange runes that magically carved themselves into the blade. I predict they're demonic runes."
"We thought it would be unstable," Jason said to Warren, "so we decided to give it to you."
"Asshole," Warren said.
He pulled the blade out of the sheath and looked at it. It was a simple katana, of course, with the runes that glowed now instead of the Demon Steel.
"It opens rifts to the Demon Realm," he said.
"What?" Alice said, confused.
"The runes," Warren continued, "They read this: 'Slash the air with intent to tear between realms'."
