I have come to the conclusion that we are not in control of our own lives. Some higher power seems to drive us towards a path we never wanted to take or thought to take. Everything is just one big screwed up mess. How else can we explain why everything goes so wrong? Something has to be playing with the way we live! Something somewhere at some place must randomly pick a few dozen names and faces and then they dedicate their lives to making that certain randomly picked name the most miserable being in the universe. It's like some sort of game to them. 'What else can we do to make them miserable today?' They wonder, while they're sitting on their fat ass laughing at us!
Just the same as the unfortunate get picked by some horrible force somewhere in the universe, the fortunate must get picked by angels or something. Don't you just HATE when you see someone else having the time of their lives? They're just so happy because everything is right? That…was Siren and Berry for me. I don't know how their relationship was still holding strong; I don't even know how those two were even getting along! All I knew was that every time they came near me, I just felt a burning rage building up inside.
Berry and Siren came up to me and they made it a habit for them to travel together as Siren rode Berry's shoulders. Sometimes Berry would pretend like he was going to drop her, but then swoop back up and she'd be 'saved.' Those two…were really stupid.
Surely I did see Siren as a friend and Berry less than a friend, but I couldn't stand to be around them when they were together. They were always hugging! And holding hands! And calling each other the stupidest names I've ever heard! The worst part was… I was there to witness… their first kiss! UGH! It was so … WEIRD! And gross! Then they kissed around me all the damn time! Was it not bad enough that Berry kissed Siren's face whenever he got the chance? All of a sudden, Siren was addicted to his lips! Then, FML! THEN! I couldn't STAND that Berry would always crouch down whenever Siren was around! Not just to kiss her, oh no! If Siren was around us, he'd crouch to her level and talk like it was normal! When she left he stood up straight. THAT ANNOYED ME TO NO END!
Everything they did was annoying, everything they said was annoying. I found the two of them together very annoying, everything was annoying about them. I don't know why they bugged me so much. Perhaps it was because they were always ALWAYS happy! They always smiled and laughed and joked and played. WHO IS THAT HAPPY WITH SOMEONE ELSE?! It makes no sense to me! Is there really that one other being that makes you happy all the time?! I didn't even smile that much with Hellen! Their stupid, stupid, stupid smiles! That stupid, idiotic look in their eyes! Everything about them was STUPID! How could she throw me to the side AGA-…? Oh… is that why I hated them together?
"Hi Fang." Siren said, perched on Berry's shoulder. I gritted my teeth together.
"Siren." I said in an annoyed tone.
"Hey Fang." Berry greeted, holding onto Siren's legs.
"Berry." I also said in an annoyed tone.
"Are you okay?" Siren asked. For a moment I thought she was actually concerned about the way I felt about the two of them together, which made me feel a little… guilty.
"Yes, I'm fine, why do you ask?" I said, trying to make it seem like I was okay with the two of them together.
"You were hit really hard." Siren said in a worried tone. I didn't know what she meant at first then I realized… she heard about Lovely knocking me out. I looked at Berry, who knew I was upset that she actually heard about that. He shrugged like an idiot and I sighed in frustration.
"I'm fine." I assured. "I'm just a little sore."
"Are you sure?" She asked. Her eyes were starting to tear up and I was just SLIGHTLY touched that she was that worried about me… SLIGHTLY!
"Come on, you know me." I said with a little smile. "Do you think I'd let a hit like that keep me down?"
"I guess not." Siren said feeling a little better. She reached into her backpack and pulled out a little gift and held it out to me. Berry grabbed it and gave it to me since she couldn't reach. "Here" She said. "I think this will make you feel better." I was a little surprised that she had a gift for me. I grabbed the box and looked inside. It was a fake flower… but not just any flower. It was the winter flowers that bloomed when I finally admitted that I saw Siren as a friend. I let out a little chuckle and looked at Siren. She seemed excited when she realized I got the reference.
"You're such a dork." I said jokingly.
"Well you're a nerd!" She joked back. I missed that, our little fights and disagreements. I missed how she annoyed and surprised me. She really was the sunshine in my life. She was the one who made everything better. I felt happy again for a brief moment, but Berry ruined the whole situation.
"Baby, are you ready?" He asked her. She nodded.
"Berry and I are going to the library. They're gonna get rid of a few books and students are welcomed to come by and get some of them before they're gone for good." Siren explained. "Do you want to come with us?"
"They might have some of your favorites." Berry said in a convincing tone.
"…" I really wanted to say no since Berry was going to be there too… but then I thought: What the hell. "Sure." I said.
"Yaay!" Siren cheered. "I was afraid you were going to say no and Berry and I would have to guess what your favorites were."
"I was thinking the exact same thing!" Berry said excitedly. They laughed together and as annoying as it was, I guess it was nice that even Berry was considering what I might like as well.
On our way, Berry had let Siren down and she was walking ahead of us. Berry and I took our time to get there; it really wasn't THAT important to get a book from the library, we could just order them. However, this way we got them immediately. As we were making our way there Berry looked at me and I figured this was the kind of look where I had to pay attention.
"You know what your problem is?" He whispered to me. "You're always thinking that you can't come see her when she's with someone else. I don't own her, nobody owns her." I quickly turned away from him and blushed a bit.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I grumbled.
"Don't be like that Fang." Berry sighed. "You can talk to her anytime you want, even if she's with me. I'm not taking her away from you. She wants to hang out with you too." I tried to ignore him but he just wouldn't drop it. "I know you're worried about me hurting her, but I'm more worried about you losing her. She's the greatest thing that's ever happened to us and I won't let you give her up just because she has a boyfriend. You're probably the only other guy I can trust her with and know you won't do anything to 'pursue' her."
"Shut up." I warned.
"You're really thick headed you know that?" He asked.
"You're really nosey, you know THAT?" I said assertively. Berry laughed.
"No need to get aggressive." Berry chuckled some more.
In any case, we got to the library and they were giving book away at the far end. We went over to take a look. When we got half way, I bet you can guess who we saw. There, with his lightish purple ponytail stood… Anaconda.
Lovely was nowhere to be found, she probably wasn't as interested in reading as Anaconda was. He didn't notice us; he was too busy going through the books. At first I wanted to back away, but Berry and Siren didn't seem to notice him. So I decided to pretend he wasn't there either. The books were lied out on two tables pushed together. There weren't very many, maybe fifty or so, but I suppose it was enough to go through.
As I looked through the books, I was thrilled to find some of my favorite books were laying there. I picked up three or four of them, but decided that I didn't want to overload myself with books. Then I saw one of my most favorite books of all times. I reached over to grab it, but another soft, smooth hand overlapped mine as I reached for it. I looked up and Anaconda quickly jolted his hand back.
"F-forgive me." He said looking away and covering his face. "I only wanted…" I observed his arms and realized he didn't have a single book. He'd been there longer than us and yet he didn't have a book. I picked up the book and he quickly looked back at me and seemed a bit desperate to get a hold of my most favorite book. I thought a long while, and though I didn't owe him anything AND he did start a fight with me… I decided to be the bigger man and let him have it. I had a few anyway and he had none.
"Here" I said handing over my most favorite book ever. At first Anaconda didn't take it; then he reached over and held it like it was the best gift ever. I suppose it was his most favorite book as well.
"Th… thanks." He said shyly and made his way towards the exit as quick as he could.
What a strange guy. I thought to myself.
"Are you ready Fang?" Berry asked. I turned to see Berry and Siren with their books. I was a little embarrassed to see that Siren saved the children's books, but to each their own.
"Yes." I said simply. With that, we all left and went off to class.
I couldn't stop thinking about the way that Anaconda was acting. He was so coldhearted and even attempted to beat me up. Then he's completely emotionless and not caring about what others have to think or what they do and THEN he acts like a really shy kid. I couldn't put my finger on him. Siren herself is one hell of a puzzle, but I think I've figured her out. Not Anaconda. His face, eyes and emotions are always changing. He was more like a chameleon than a snake.
Lovely was a wonder too. She started off looking like one fierce spider, and then as the days went on she became really sweet and cute. She is definitely easier to figure out, but she was full of surprises, such as her being much stronger than I was. A girl like her must be very dangerous.
I sighed and tried to think of other things. Although, when Flow walked into my classroom I was ready to continue my thought on them if it meant I wouldn't have to deal with her. However, she sat in the seat directly behind mine. Leaving me to wonder why she was always messing with me if it never ends well…?
"Hello Fang." She hummed in my ear. A shiver traveled up my spine and she giggled. "I just got a schedule change, who knew you would be in this class too?"
"Isn't chemistry a little to advance for you?" I asked. She laughed.
"You're funny~" She ran her finger on my spine, causing me to jerk a bit.
We had a lab that day, so I felt lucky when the teacher assigned her to another student that was far away from me. Although the lab was supposed to be independent work, someone had to catch her up with us. I only would dread the moment she finally caught up with us.
After class, Flow found it in herself to follow me around. Of course I was very annoyed, but there was nothing that I did that would drive her away and there was on one to save me. However, I found myself drawn to Anaconda yet again. He entered her line of vision, she was all over him.
"Hi cutie~" She said. "I've been dying to meet you~" She wrapped her arms around his arm. He looked at her arms around his and then he looked at her.
"Flow, leave him alone." I growled. "It's bad enough you mess with me."
"Aww, do you miss me already?" She asked in a teasing voice.
"NO!" I growled. "Just let him go before I-"
"Fang!" Anaconda gasped, cutting off my threat. "That is no way to speak to a lady."
"That's right~" Flow said hugging him tighter.
"There is no need to threaten her with physical contact." He further went on. "Women are weak and useless creatures, you only need to learn to speak to them properly."
"….excuse me?" Flow asked in an insulted tone.
"Allow me to demonstrate." He said turning to Flow. "Madam, I'd greatly appreciate you letting go of my arm. I don't want you're filthy scales mixed with mine."
"UGH!" She scoffed throwing her arms to her sides. "How DARE you!"
"How dare YOU!" He countered, wafting his hand in front of his nose. "Haven't you ever heard of a toothbrush?" She gasped and covered her mouth.
"I… How dare you talk to me like this!?" She growled. "Who do you think you are?!"
"Nobody important, but at least I can keep my skin clean." He said grabbing a hankie from his pocket and wiping the arm that she touched.
"Do you know who I am!?" She growled.
"A girl with crooked pigtails?" He asked looking at her hair. "Do you OWN a mirror?"
"The… THEY ARE NOT COOKED!" She yelled.
"Oh! So you DON'T own a mirror." He said rolling his eyes. "That explains so much." He said touching his face. Flow backed away.
"W-well you look like you spend hours in front of the mirror you FREAK!" She insulted.
"Is it wrong for others to care what the look and smell like?" He asked. "Oh wait! I'm sorry, that isn't the stench of filthy skin; it's the stench of cheap perfume!" That one struck Flow right in the heart.
"I…I…" She let out a scream and ran off.
"TALK TO ME WHEN YOU CAN AFFORD THE TIGRESS BRAND!" He yelled at her. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I hate posers."
"Uhm…" I gave him a look. That little fight was more of a fight that… two GIRLS would have.
"Hello?" He asked waving a hand on front of my face.
"What was that?" I asked him.
"I told you, there's no need to stress the women out with physical force. If you only learn to talk to them then that's all the force you'll need." He came up to me. "Women are weak, afraid, and defenseless. Hurting them will only make them even more useless." He walked away.
I would've never pegged him as the sexist type, but apparently, Anaconda was VERY sexist. After his confrontation with Flow NONE of the girls were interested in him whatsoever and everyone could see that he didn't mind it at all. There was only one girl he cared about, and that's all that mattered to him.
