Why do you cry?
Is it the games your tired of playing, or the steps you mean to take but end up feigning,
You know there's a better life waiting out there, if only you could detach the hooks from you, straining and threatening to tear
Maybe it will help to tell me, why do you cry?
I know there are wounds in your shield and in the defenses you wield
You're lost and alone, right? Don't have a place to call home, right?
Tell me, why do you cry?
I know your pain; you sit out there on your concrete carpet, willing your roof not to rain
Knowing at any moment someone might drag you down at the chance of their own gain,
It gets hard to get back up and look forward again
And, I can guess why you cry
Maybe because Dad never came along and Mom is long gone,
But there's still hope, you might be lost, but you don't have to be alone
Silent is your cry, one easily missed if you don't want to see the signs
But I hear your cry
