There was a shadow in my lungs
I held my chest as I was wracked with coughs
Gasping and choking as the shadow came out
From my mouth it leapt onto the wall
And it danced around to an unheard song
Until I grabbed my pillow and smothered it dead
Then I put my pillow back down to rest my head
Humming to myself a breathy little tune
As a new shadow passed from my pillow to you
Another one of my poems from Allpoetry.
