Two women sit in a round room, one old and one young. The day is warm, the air filled with the scents and sounds of spring, and yet the young woman is anguished.

"Nothing goes right." She says. "My life is always the same miserable mess."

The old woman pours tee into the empty cups before them both and, with wrinkled hands adds sugar, to only her own. Before the young woman can sweeten her own, the old woman says, "Take a sip.

She does just that, only to gag and spit it quickly back into her cup. The old woman asks with a toothless grin, "What does it taste like?"

"Bitter." She says. The old woman nods her head. "yes." She says. "Now take another sip."

The young woman looked from the reflection in the cup to the old woman with a raised brow. She takes a timid sip only to, again, be assaulted by its bite.

"Now?" The old woman asks.

"Still bitter!"

"Exactly and it always will be. As I see it you have two choices." She sips her own tea and pushed the sugar cup towards her.

"You can do nothing, and keep drinking, hoping the bitterness will go away. Or, you can change, and add your own sugar. The bitterness won't be gone, but it will be overshadowed by the sweet."
