Chap.2 The Ship
When Myra woke she was unsure of her surroundings until yesterday's events rush back to her mind. She sighed and sat up 'well I guess it wasn't a dream' she thought. She looked around the room and her eyes landed on a note that was placed on top of a something yellow. Curious she got out of bed gasping lightly at how cold the floor was she walked over to where the note was picked it up and read it.
Just something to wear today, I hope you like it breakfast is at 9:00, we are expecting you
Queen Juliana
Myra looked at the grandfather clock placed in the corner of her room and saw it read 8:40. That gave her enough time to clean up and change; she picked up the yellow fabric and saw it was a bright yellow sundress. 'This will do' she thought, she went into the bathroom that was connected to her room and showered she then changed into the dress and looked in the mirror. The dress came just below her knees and fit her just right, she smiled being an orphan she couldn't really afford nice dresses like this, she made her share of money by helping out with harvesting out in the farm, Kai on the other hand worked the docks to raise money.
Myra pulled back her hair in her usual low pony-tail but tied it with a yellow ribbon that came with the dress. She looked at herself one more time in the mirror before leaving. Myra walked down the corridor and to be honest she was lost, it was like she was in a maze the castle seemed too have never ending twist and turns. Myra spotted a maid and asked for directions, the maid curtsied and offered to take her to the dining hall. Myra accepted kindly and fallowed the short plump maid to the dining hall. Once they arrived she thanked the maid and entered the large room.
As soon as she entered the smell of eggs, bacon, and pancakes filled her nostrils, and at that moment her stomach growled and she realized just how hungry she was. She was greeted by the King and Queen, she was surprised to see Kai there as well. She had expected him to either be still sleeping or lost like she was. He saw the look on her face and he smirked.
"Unlike you I have better since of direction and I made mantle notes on which way to go." he snickered. Myra stuck her tongue out at him and took the seat across from him once again, and grabbed and apple. The King smiled and began to speak.
"Myra, you will be leaving for the Empire today, you will not need to pack they will have everything set up for you." He said before taking a bite of his pancakes. Myra nodded and bit into her apple.
"Will they be set up for me as well your highness?" Kai asked with a smile. The royal man shook his head.
"You will not be going with Myra to the Empire my boy; you are going to be staying here while she is gone." Kai narrowed his eyes and clenched his jaw he spoke with slight anger in his voice.
"You expect me to just sit here and worry about her!?" He asked looking at the King. "I'm sorry you're Highness but simply can't do that." The Queen spoke up.
"Don't worry Kai, Myra will be fine she will be with the other girls and the sphere chose her which means she has what it takes to fight the beast." She said with a reassuring smile. Kai calmed a bit but he still fought back.
"But they can't protect her the way I can!" He exclaimed, and with that he stood up and stormed out to the garden. The Queen was about to go after him but Myra stopped her.
"I'll go talk to him; I'm probably the only one he'll listen to." She smiled and got up and fallowed Kai. She found Kai by the rose garden pacing back and forth.
"You're going to wear out the grass" She called with a teasing smile on her face. He turned to her and smiled back. "What was that about?" Myra asked as she walked up to him, he was a good five inches taller than her so she had to look up to look into his eyes. He swallowed and cleared his throat.
"I'm just...worried about you...your all I have and if I lose you-" He trailed off looking away, Myra place a hand on his cheek and made him look at her.
"You don't have to worry I'll be fine, I can take care of myself remember? And come on do you really think a vicious beast can get rid of me that easily?" She asked with a grin on her face. Kai chuckled smiled back at her.
"No, I don't think so because your just to stubborn to let that happen"
"And don't you forget it!"They laughed and Myra took Kai's hand in her's and squeezed it reasuringly
"come on their probably wondering where we are." They walked back to the castle and found the King and Queen on sitting on the porch.
"There you two are, I hope the issue has been settled?" The Queen asked.
"Yes it has been settled your Highness." Kai said grinning. The Queen smiled happily and clapped her hands together.
"Good because we have to leave now so Myra can hop on the ship to the Empire!" She exclaimed happily. With that the King, Queen, Kai, and Myra got into the carriage and made their way to the docks.
Once they had reached their destination there was a group of people waiting friends of Myra and Kai's. They got out and a little girl about the age of seven came running up to Myra and gave her a hug, Myra hugged the girl back and smiled at the blond girl who was giggling.
"Good luck Myra, go show that monster who's boss!" she said. Myra laughed again and told her she would do just that. All of Myra's friends said goodbye some brought gifts like homemade cookies, and a sweater in case it got cold, she accepted every gift with a smile and hugged everyone. It was time to board the ship but there was one person she needed to say goodbye to, he was standing at the edge of the dock facing the ocean. She came up behind him and hugged him from behind.
"Goodbye Kai..." She whispered. He turned around and enveloped her into a strong embrace.
"No, not goodbye you mean see you later, because you're coming back remember?" Myra smiled and nodded. "Be careful Myra..." She smiled widened.
"I always am" she laughed. They walked back to the ship and hugged one last time, before Myra bored the ship. As it started moving Myra waved at her friends until they were out of sight and went down to her room.
It was a bit smaller than the one at the castle but still bigger than her old room, the bed was still as big and soft. There was a knock at the door and Myra told them to come in, it was the same little impish man from the ceremony. He told her in his bored voice that they would be in the Empire by late afternoon. She thanked him and he left.
She changed into a lavender nightgown that was soft to the touch, suddenly very exhausted, she curled up under the blanket and thought to herself.
'Tomorrow I'm going to be in the Empire, tomorrow I'm going to meet the three princesses who I will be training and fighting with against the Shrieker, tomorrow I'm meeting the Empress...I hope I don't make a fool of myself'
With that as her final thoughts her eyes drifted close with the sound of the water splashing against the ship lulling her to sleep.
