It's a poem about my old friend Nate. I was tease throughout elementary school and, when he came, he became my friend and stood up for me when the other kids wanted to hurt me. I could never thank him enough.

Why
Why did you save me
From the cold-hearted sea
That threatened to drown me
That threatened to break me.
Why didn't you join my tormentors of hell
It would have kept you safe
And lessened your pain as well
Why did you care
About someone as lowly as me
As broken as me
As damaged as me.
Why did you defend me
At the Gates of Hell
When the Demons tried to hurt me
When they tried to burn me.
Grateful I am, but my confusion is high
You were my friend
But I don't see why.
You picked up my shattered pieces.
You gave me the strength and I hope I needed to live life
And I miss you with all my might.
