Flicker
Author:
Lord Thyrowing PM
A song about having a little personal exorcism. Except you're shaking off the tethers of life, in a way. ...I swear, this made perfect sense in my head...

"Flicker"

My heart
Is not
Something I can't live without
Its blood's
Nothing
My alchemy cannot impart

So I
Will fly
On wings of my own design
And if
I fall
That's fine

I'll leave love
In the corner of my ribs
Tied to my spinal cord
With hell-sent chains of gold
I'll leave life
With autumn's gentle wife
Using my unspent time
To destroy my heaven-sent soundless rhymes

Watch ghosts
Pass on
Notice how they flicker by
Maybe
We'll see
Mother Mary's statue cry

With wit
Derive
Calculations of the state
Of us
Before
We die

I'll leave love
In the corner of my ribs
Tied to my spinal cord
With hell-sent chains of gold
I'll leave life
With autumn's gentle wife
Using my unspent time
To destroy my heaven-sent soundless rhymes

Can't see in the dark of night
Blinded by the morning light
Peter and Lilith will both fall and rise
Can't breathe underneath the sea
From my eyes down to my knees
I won't wait on the widow's peak
I swore on my grave that those secrets I won't speak

I'll leave love
In the corner of my ribs
Tied to my spinal cord
With hell-sent chains of gold
I'll leave life
With autumn's gentle wife
Using my unspent time
To destroy my heaven-sent soundless rhymes
