Swallowed by despair
Painting the world black
Unable to let go
Of the happiness once had
Stuck on the threshold
'twix morning and night
Hate the dark
But fear the light
Smothered by the void
But burned by the bright
Chained by the dark
But drawn by the light
The bleak nothing
Maddening but familiar
The enchanting light
Unknown and terrifying
Escape the twilight
Greet the dawn
Leave the cold
In hopes of warmth
Shed the fear
As anticipation fills the being
Fall into the unknown
And kiss the sunlight
Born again in the sun
Now a creature of light
