"What do you want...?" The teen asked as he walked out of the shadow, revealing his blood-red eyes, long pitch-black hair covering his left eye.
"You're... hurt-"
"Don't give me any of your pity." The teen said with a light growl. "I could care less for hypocrites like yourself." He said as he began to walk past her. "Don't ever follow me." He muttered as he placed his hand above his left eye.
"...I'm a hypocrite...?"
The teen continued walking as he looked down at his hand and noticed blood. "I'm not going to repeat myself..." He said as he disappeared within the shadows.
"But... you always-"
"MAYUMI!"
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"Agh!" Mayumi quickly jumped off from her chair as her books from her desk fell onto the floor. "W-what happened-" She moved her crimson-colored hair away from her emerald eyes. She closed her eyes as she felt a small sting between her eyes. "Oww..." She rubbed her forehead. "You didn't have to throw chalk at me sensei..." She pouted. The other students began to laugh.
"AHEM!" The teacher slammed his book on his desk as the students quieted down. "Ahem... Well... I asked you if you were present for the fifth time. Detention after school." He replied as he turned around and began writing on the chalkboard. "And it's Izuya-sensei to you. You're in your last year of High school but yet you act like a kinder gardener."
"Eh...? Heheheh..." Mayumi closed her eyes as she began rubbing her head. "I'm sorry Izuya-sensei-"
"An apology isn't going to make up for distracting the class. Detention will be exactly at 5:00 PM. Do you understand?" Izuya said with a sigh as he placed the chalk back on his desk as he picked up his book. "Now sit."
"Ugh... Yes sensei-Err... Izuya-sensei." Mayumi sighed as she bowed lightly and sat back down.
"Good." The teacher looked back down at his book. "Alright. Shino?" "Present!" "Himeko?" "Here~." "Ryuk?" "Not here~." "Lunch detention." "Huh?" "Hmm... and... Minato?" "..." "Hmph... not here? I guess that's all for to-"
All the students looked over at the door as the teen with pitch-black hair and blood-red eyes walked in. "Sorry I'm late."
Izuya sighed as he checked Minato's name to present. "It's alright. But... What's up with the bandages on your left eye? Why do you have a cast on your right arm?"
Minato looked over at the class. "Hmph...it's like I'm an animal in a zoo... All these pathetic people looking at my direction..." "I was riding my bicycle down a very steep hill, I didn't notice there was a rock, and it caused me to hit the floor in a pretty brutal way." He said as he pointed at his left eye. "I had stitches done above my eye, and luckily my arm was sprained and not broken. The nurse said to wear the cast to make my arm heal faster."
"I see... please take a seat Minato." Izuya sighed. "Everybody take out your books, and turn to page 45. We'll start off with..." Izuya began to write mathematical formulas on the chalkboard.
Minato glanced at the room. "No chairs...?" He then glanced over at Mayumi who quickly looked away from his eyes. "...Hmph... only the seat next to her?" He sighed as he walked towards her. Many eyes of the students focused on him. "These pathetic people..." He clenched his left fist as he sat down on his desk.
Mayumi looked over at his direction. "He didn't bring any books or anything with him at all..." "Umm..." She took out a sheet of paper and handed it over to him. "Do you need one?"
Minato looked at her with his blood-red eyes. "...Thank you." He said as he grabbed the paper and placed it on his desk.
"Ah... um... No problem. Do you need... a pencil?" She asked.
"I have one of my own." He replied as he took out a pencil.
"Ah... I see..." Mayumi smiled lightly as she looked down at her book. "Why did he tell a lie to sensei...?" She began staring at him again. "The two who caused those injuries are sitting behind him... Is he scared?" Her eyes met his once again. "Crap!" She quickly looked back down at her book. "I'm going to talk to him during lunch. I need to know his reason." She bit her bottom lip lightly. "And... what he meant yesterday about what he told me." She then looked back up at the board, only to see a flying piece of chalk hitting between her eyes. "Ow!"
"Lunch detention." Izuya said as he continued writing on the board.
"EHH!?" Mayumi sighed as she looked over at Minato. "After school then..."
-.-.-.- Lunch Time .-.-.-.-
"Man... why do I have to stay here...?" Mayumi pouted as she laid her head on her desk. "Izuya-sensei... you're so mean..."
"Stop complaining. Did you finish writing the pledge a hundred and fifty times?" Izuya asked as his eyes continued focusing on his newspaper.
"Yes! Can I go?" MAyumi asked with a smile on her face. "Pretty, pretty please!"
"No." Izuya replied as he turned the next page of his newspaper. "Do fifty more."
"But-!"
"Not Buts." He said as he looked over at the student next to Mayumi. "Ryuk? Finished?"
"Zzzz..."
"Umm..." Mayumi began poking Ryuk's arm. "Psst! Wake up! Sensei knows you're aslee-Err..." She sighed as she began writing the pledge. "Too late."
Izuya raised a handbook above Ryuk's head. "No sleeping in my class!" He said as he dropped the handbook, hitting Ryuk's head, hearing a small 'thunk' sound.
"Agh!" Ryuk quickly sat up, revealing his light-blue eyes, and short brown spiky hair. "W-what?!" He asked as he wiped off the droll underneath his lip. "I was having a nice dream ya know!"
"Thanks for you sleeping, you now have lunch detention for this entire week." Izuya said with a sigh as he went back to his chair and began reading his newspaper. "Now start writing the pledge, both of you."
"Ugh... yes sensei..." Mayumi said with a sigh as she continued writing down the pledge. "Nice job Ryuk..."
"Hey!" Ryuk slammed his hand on his desk. "It was not my fault that this prince of our school needed his beauty nap!"
"...Beauty nap...? Are you kidding me...?"
"Don't need to be jealous Mayumi! I'll forgive you if you become mine!" Ryuk replied with a grin on his face. "Think about it... the most beautiful people together... Ryuk and Mayuri... Amaz-"
"Rejected." Mayumi replied as she stood up. "Izuya-sensei, I finished. May I please go?"
"Sure." He replied as he turned to the next page. "Hope you learn your lesson of not paying attention in my class."
"Sure did Izuya-sensei! I'll see you after lunch!" Mayumi said with a smile on her face as she walked out of the class.
"Ehh?" Ryuk stood up as well. "M-Mayumi!? D-did you reject me just now? H-Hey! Mayumi!" He began walking towards the door, until he felt a hand, gripping his shoulder. "Uh..." He slowly looked behind him. "S-Sensei..."
"For the last time... You deserve much more severe punishment..." Izuya said with smirk on his face.
"E-Ehh...?" Ryuk gulped as he screamed for help. "HELP ME MAYUMI!" The classroom door closed as Ryuk screamed.
Mayumi began walking down the stairs towards the school cafeteria. "Where is he...?" She asked as she began running down the stairs. "I need to confront him- Huh?" She looked down and noticed the 'Cautious: Slippery stairs.' "You got to be kidding-Agh!" She tripped on one of the steps as she began falling downwards. "C-Crap!" She closed her eyes as she felt arms wrapping around her.
BAM!
"Ow..." A masculine voice called out. "Hey, Mayumi? You okay?"
Mayumi opened her eyes as she looked up at the person who caught her. His light-brown eyes focused on her as his dark-blue, wavy hair covered his forehead. "Oh! Thanks for saving me Shino!" She said with a smile on her face.
"U-uh..." Shino blushed as he looked away. "No problem... But... You should be more careful Mayumi. You were always this clumsy since elementary school you know?"
"Heheh..." Mayumi began rubbing her head. "Well... I'm naturally clumsy."
"A clutz huh?" He replied with a small chuckle.
"Haha! Yup! I haven't changed huh?" She asked with a chuckle.
"Yeah... clutzy and yet, so smart." He said with a smile on his face.
"Hey now... don't just talk about me! How about you?" She asked.
"Huh?" Shino sighed. "Nothing about me has changed-" He stopped as Mayumi leaned in closer to him. "W-what?"
"Lies! You led this school to victory in the national, martial-arts tournament 3 years in a row! You are the strongest guy in this whole school!"
"W-well... is that something really worth bragging about...?"
"Of course! No one in this school was able to take out the strongest team in the finals, single handed like yourself! Come on Shino!" Mayumi said with a sigh as she nudged his head with her finger. "Be more proud! This is our last year here! Go crazy!"
"Huh...?" Shino sighed. "Well.. I'll try." He said with a chuckle. "Well actually... since it's our last year... I need to tell you-"
"Oh my." A feminine voice called out. "I never knew you two were so bold."
"Eh?" Mayumi looked down up at the figure. She has raven colored eyes with long black hair, and a bang covering her right eye. "H-Himeko..?" She asked as she then looked down and noticed her chest pressing down against Shino's and his arms still wrapped around her. "I-It's not what you think Himeko!" She said as her face turned red. "I-It's definitely not like that!" She said quickly as she looked at Shino."
"W-what...?"
"Release me you pervert!"
"O-Oh! Sorry!" Shino quickly moved his arms away as Mayumi stood up. "I'm very sorry!" He said as he stood up. "I-I didn't intend for it to be like that!"
"Oh really?" Himeko asked with a small grin on her face. "Your face seems to tell another story..."
"Pe-Pervert!" Mayumi said as she stomped on his foot and ran off. "I'm never going to forget this!"
"O-Ow..." Shino began rubbing his foot. "T-That was mean Himeko..."
"Huh? What did I do?" She asked with a smile on her face. "You were lucky enough it was me who saw you two first. Who knows? Maybe you two would have gone farther?"
Shino's face turned bright red. "W-What?! We would never-" He stopped as Himeko leaned in closer to him. "What?!"
"You haven't confessed to her yet!?"
"U-uhh..."
"You got to be kidding me..." She sighed as she smacked him at the back of his head.
"Ow! why do you two keep hitting me!?"
"You're despicable! A disgrace! A failure of a man! Are you even a male? A coward! How can you see yourself in the mirror? Pathetic excuse of an existence!"
"O-Ow...Seven arrow shots..." Shino looked down at his feet as he clenched his chest. "M-My pride..."
"Well.. You have a crush on her since when?" Himeko asked.
"Since 6th grade-"
"And did you confess to her at all?"
"W-well-"
"No."
"Ugh... it'll take time!" He replied.
"You said that the last three years!" She said with a low growl. "Ugh! You're unbelievable!"
"I... was about to! But you just had to say something!"
"Huh..." She stared at his eyes. "Really? Were you really going to ask her out? Or would you have chickened out like the last three years with excuse like 'I need a lab partner...' Or 'I need a pencil.' Or! My favorite one. 'I like your writing!' So suave sir, Suave."
"Eh..." Shino sighed. "I'm really pathetic huh...?"
Himeko sighed as she punched his arm. "About time you realize!"
"How is that a good thing!?"
"Well... I don't know... maybe... um... Wait let me think about this" She said as she placed her finger on her lip. "Oh. Yes! What if she finds someone else she's in love with? Ever thought about that?"
"...Well... I did..." He said.
"Then do something for cheese's sake! You need to tell her!"
"I know...but...I just don't know when is the right time..."
"Shino. You've waited for almost five years, that should be more than enough." Himeko said with a smile on her face. "You can do it."
"I'll do what I can." He said with a small smile on his face. "Thanks."
Mayumi sighed as she sat down on a chair. "Where is he...?" She looked up at the ceiling. "I need to talk to him..." She growled lightly as she slammed her head against the table in front of her. "Ugh! This is really frustrating me!... and Ow! why the hell did I do that?" She asked herself as she began rubbing her forehead. "Great... now everyone is looking at me weird. Oh. And I'm talking to myself! How amazing!"
Two girls sat behind the table of Mayumi as they began giggling to one another. "Hahaha! I know! How can someone be so stupid to pick a fight with two of the three strongest in our martial-arts team?" "He is so stupid! I don't see why he would even try to fight back with that broken arm of his." "Yeah! What was his name again?" "Uh... Namito?" "You sure? I thought it was something like Nagato." "You're way off! It's Minoto!"
Mayumi quickly stood up as she walked up to the two girls. "Where are they?"
"Huh?" "Who does this bitch think she is?" "Yeah! Who the hell do you think you are!?"
Mayumi growled as she slammed her fist on their table. "I'm not screwing around right now! Where the hell are they?!" The entire cafeteria looked over at their direction.
"T-the rooftop."
Mayumi sighed as she bowed down lightly. "Sorry for the rudeness, and thanks!" She said with a smile as she began running up the stairs. "I hope I didn't went to crazy down there... But...Two of the three martial-arts team... Shino will get very upset when he finds out what his team members did..." She shook her head as she continued running up the stairs. "Right now I need to stop them from hurting Minato anymore. I just hope what they said about Minato picking a fight isn't true..." She clenched her fist. "I just need to talk to him...!" She pushed the door open and saw Minato on the floor, as the two martial-artists walked past her.
"That'll teach him for looking down at us." "Watch what you say next time, piece of shit." They both closed the door.
Mayumi sighed as she sat down next to Minato. "You got yourself in deep trouble huh?"
Minato spat out blood as he laid on his back, looking up at the sky. "...What do you want?"
"Well... I heard about you and the other two, and well.. I needed to put a stop to it." She said as she tried to touch his hair, but Minato moved his head away.
"Hmph... Well... it's over. Why are you still here?" He asked as he wiped the blood off his lip.
"You should know." Mayumi replied as her eyes focused on him. "After all... you did tell me yesterday."
"...I thought so." He replied as he closed his eyes. "Shoot."
"Why did you refuse my help-"
"Do I need to take your help?" Minato asked. "Am I forced to accept help from others?"
"Well... No. But... Anybody would want to help if someone is bleeding, and can barely walk straight."
"Then what?" He asked again. "What would happen if you helped me out?"
"Well... We would get to know each other. Then maybe... we can be friends-"
"I apologize, but I just couldn't take it anymore." Minato said with an irritated voice as he opened his eyes. "I can't stand hypocrites."
"...That's what leads to the next question I've been dying for an answer to." Mayumi said. "How exactly am I a hypocrite?"
"Get to know me? Get real. Whenever someone wants to know anyone is because they want something from that person. No other reason behind it." He said as slowly moved his right arm on his stomach. The cast is broken. "What exactly do you want for me, and I swear if you say 'I want to be friends' I'm going to hurl."
"What are you saying...?" Mayumi asked with a confused look on her face.
"Are you afraid of being ignored? Is that it?" He asked.
"You're making no sense."
"Everyone you talked to, they talked back to you, you felt as if you own this world. But when you meet someone that doesn't want anything involved with you, you go crazy, and crazy and try to find out why, Why is he doing this to me? What is it about me he doesn't want to be close to me?" Minato said as he sat up. "If you really want to know, people like you, people that wants to be on everybody's good side... they are all pathetic... they disgust me." He clenched his fist. "I hate you. I loathe you. I want you dead. I want you gone. You are one of the people that makes me sick in my stomach..." He said as he slowly stood up, favoring his right arm. "You are an eyesore." He then looked down at her. "Does that answer your question?"
