Mango's P.O.V
I looked at the boy in front of me my mind racing with thoughts, "Well then, I'll try to explain this as simply as possible."
A smile found its way onto my pale face. "Well, I think that's all you need to know for now," I complimented them gaining some nods of approval.
"So what's the next move?" Talia asked.
I took a moment to think before replying, "We should probably-" I was cut short by a horribly familiar voice.
"I'm afraid whatever stupid scheme you were planning will have to be brought to a stop. It is my duty as your… I'll say guardian to look after you."
My eyes immediately narrowed at that slimy voice, I hated this woman so much. "What are you doing here?" I questioned without trying to conceal my anger. 'Calm down, we both know what she's capable of.'
"Oh, just picking up a package."
"She hit me on the back of the head with a blunt object knocking me unconscious, the next time I woke up it was in a rotting building with dangers at every corner…"
I sat up and investigated my surrounding the best I could without my glasses on. As soon as I was up someone was next to me laying me back down mumbling something about resting. I could barely make it out thanks to all of the yelling and screaming, at first I had thought the infected had started attacking. Sadly I was soon to find out that it wasn't a deadly disease, it was my 'friends' squabbling amongst themselves. 'This must be one of them times when everyone fights with each other before a strong leader comes along and makes them all work together,' my inner self deduced, 'well I'm not taking that job role.'
Against the orders of my 'nurse' I got up and moved around the room asking everybody questions to figure what had happened. Frustratingly I never got a straight answer, only bits and pieces of the puzzle which I would have to piece together on my own. However, I did manage to find a working laptop with a full charge. I didn't know why it was there but I wasn't about to go questioning it.
"From that point onwards I worked on helping you guys, it was hard work trying to juggle being your guide and making sure people weren't killing each other in my own situation but I just about managed it for a good amount of time."
As I sent my last message there was a loud crash behind me, 'again?', 'they really are like children', 'you're not much better.'
"I CAN'T DEAL WITH YOU ANYMORE!" Chloe yelled.
"Oh, well isn't that a shame?" Alice replied with a smirk.
"WHY DON'T YOU JUST LEAVE?! NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE!" I rolled my eyes, 'how many times is this now?', 'Four', 'It was a rhetorical question genius'.
"Shut up! NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE EITHER! ALL YOU EVER TALK ABOUT IT DAN DAN DAN! YOU NEVER HAD A SHOT WITH HIM!" 'Well at least they're getting to the point this time', 'maybe it'll finish quicker.'
"Oh! AND LIKE WAYNE EVER GAVE A CRAP ABOUT YOU?" 'Oh no'
"Don't say that!" she replied quieter.
"NO! HE DIDN'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU! HE USED YOU AND THEN THREW YOU AWAY!"
"I SAID SHUT UP!" she yelled connecting a fist with her face. I watched as Chloe flew backwards smashing into the corroded wall knocking pieces of plaster to the floor. Silence fell. "Ch-chloe, I… I'm sorry but-"Before she could say another word she was on the floor with Chloe's fists smashing into her face over and over again. This went on for a few minutes, Alice unable to do anything but take the beating. At points I thought someone else would jump in and help, but no. Everyone just sat back and watched like they were watching two animals fight for dominance.
Everything froze as the blood splattered on the surrounding people. Alice had got hold of a knife and buried it into Chloe's chest. We all watched completely shocked. Well, everyone but me. I had seen this coming. This wasn't a surprise to me. What did surprise me was the next move.
"I had to do it! I-" Alice was cut off as a gunshot sounded. I felt her bodily fluids cover me. Denchy stood behind her, a gun in her hands at point blank range.
"Chloe, why did you-?" Cara started but stopped abruptly. A low groan made us all stop. It was soon joined by many others, 'I'm surprised they didn't find us soon honestly', 'tell me about it', 'what we doing now?', 'getting these stupid motherfuckers out of here', 'got it! But how exactly are we going to do that genius?' A smile came to my lips.
"Everyone, time for you guys to move~" I practically sung. I jumped up from my place and threw a backpack full of instructions and other things at Denchy making her drop her gun.
"What?" Talia hissed at me, jumping at the sound of the walls breaking from the pressure.
"Listen, you guys have to get out and get out now, just go through the back door and run," I explained packing up my own things.
"Wait, there's a back door?"
"Yeah, I found it within the first five minutes of being here"
"But-"
"Shut up and run"
"But, where to, you'r-"
"Just shut up and do as I say" they remained quiet as the exited. With Talia exiting last I gave her salute, "You're in charge now, make sure they're looked after." She nodded and saluted back, leaving me on my own with the bodies of my good friends.
"From there I was found out… she found me. The person who I have now made my official mortal enemy, I blame her for all of the stuff I've been through, it hasn't even been two days!" I let out sigh, "So yeah, I got caught by them, but kind of on purpose, I needed to see what they were like on the inside, you know? Get to know your enemy. I got thrown in a jail cell for a little while but soon broke out and started killing anything that moved. Looking back I know I shouldn't have, but I needed to send my message across to her."
"Who is she?"
A smile came to my face, "it's probably better if you didn't know~"
"What? Come on, I thought you were going to be all clear about everything now?"
"Nope, just most things~ Right, where was I? Oh yeah! So yeah, I killed a bunch of people…"
I ran with the blood on my hands. I couldn't stay there any longer; I had done all I could to get revenge for my fallen friends. Thanks to all of the blood that had been spilled in one place it seemed obvious thinking back on it that it would attract the infected by the hundreds. My folder bashed against my side as I ran, I had managed to find it in a storage cupboard for some reason, 'I don't know why they would take someone's folder like that!', 'because you make it a dangerous weapon'.
I ran for ages, it didn't seem like it but I could run pretty well. It was the only sport related thing I could do well, unless chess counts as a sport… 'You sound like a nerd'. After running for what felt like hours I reached the police station, I originally wanted to meet Orange here but that was before I realised what I was really up against. 'It's not the infected you have to worry about, it's the people'. In the station I had found some guns which I quickly picked up as well as some other interesting weapons. 'I wasn't planning on getting guns this early on but I doubt we'll be able to make our way back here'.
"So that's pretty much it, save for some important details. I spent a restless night in the police station before walking over to meet you."
"But I swear I heard a car before."
"Must of just been your imagination~" I said with a grin.
"So what now?" he asked me. We both stopped walking at the same time. We were now on the borderline of the forest, the same place I had been informed Orange had been at.
"You're going to follow this trail, meet up with everyone." I told him before making a right angle and heading in the opposite direction.
"Wait! Where are you going now?" he called out, his worry showing in his voice. 'Strange, he doesn't even know us yet he's worried…'
"I have my own stuff to be doing~" I told him over my shoulder.
"B-but! No! You have to come join the others with me!" he demanded.
"No can do prince charming, I need to uphold my end of the bargain~"
"What bargain?! Stop speaking in riddles!"
I chuckled, "just go get your girl." With that I walked away, ignoring anymore yells of protest. 'They've helped me out all this time, it's time to return the favour', 'no shit sherlock, have you got any idea how much shit they must have had to deal with? Their shit probably makes our shit look pointless!' I rolled my eyes, 'why do I have to put up with you?', 'because you are me dipshit, now get your ass moving, we have to get to the connection point by night fall'. I walked a bit further before wondering out loud, "I wonder if I should have told him more…", 'No, he barely managed to swallow what we did tell him, just keep moving'.
"Maybe I should just meet up with them…" 'Oh no you don't, I will not let you! Do you have any idea how hard I've worked to get us to this point? We are not just giving that shit up now!'
"Yeah but… I do miss them," 'well deal with it, they've got shit that they have to deal with on their own the same as we do!' I sighed, "I hate it when you're right."
My phone in my pocket buzzed, 'dammit, I hate these things' going against my instincts I pulled the phone out of my pocket and pressed a button opening up a text message.
'10 mins tops, plz hurry~!
Xxx'
'10 minutes?', 'more importantly plz… really?', 'this is why we hate phones', 'true that'. With a sigh I picked up the pace, 'either way, let's hurry', 'agreed, it wouldn't be fair if your love interest died and everyone else's lived', 'shut up before I hit you again'.
