She didn't say anything, but I

saw it in her eyes and that makes me

want to drop it to the ground

right here and now forever.

Fingers so tense and pale,

clutching grasping reaching for

some unlikely possible scenario where

she doesn't care, she doesn't mind –

But it's still there, it still sears me

through and through, that pain

dead in her eyes and in her soul.

Fingers so frozen, unwilling;

this is a stretch for my selfish

vile insatiable wretched mind.

The clatter is deafening.
