Memories haunt me

Following me like a shadow

Stalking like a wolf

Waiting to prey on my soul

Misery burrows into me

Digging under my skin like a mole

Wriggling its way deeper and deeper like a worm

Trying to bury itself in my heart

Pain overwhelms me

Bowling me over like a gust of wind

Engulfing me like a rush of water

Pouring over me to grip my mind

Darkness yawns in front of me

Icy breath chilling my bones

Opening its foul mouth like a great whale

Widening to eat me whole

My happy ending eludes me

Evades me like a runaway

Hides out of sight like a mouse

Denying me of my peace
