Chapter 4: The Epilogue

It had been 12 long years since Tom had walked off with the girl into the afternoon sun. Tom regretted none of those 12 years. In fact, Tom had been amazed how easy A-level was during his stay. So, Tom (26 years of age) woke up in his bed and stared at the ceiling. Tom realised that today was his anniversary – the day that symbolised that he had been married for a whole year to the girl he loved. He sat up and looked to his right, hoping to see his beautiful wife. To his dismay, she was gone, replaced with a note of card and a rose. Whilst smiling to himself, his wife knocked on the door and entered. She was wearing a night dress, slightly transparent but tinted pink.

"Morning, sweetie" She said to Tom while handing him a plate of freshly cooked bacon, eggs and sausages.

"Has it really been 12 years since we met? Seems such a long time… but you haven't got any less beautiful" Replied Tom as he tucked into the hot meal that made his eyes wonder in delight.
"Yes… it has…"Tom's wife whispered as she lay down next to him.

"What do you want to do today, eh?" Tom asked her, while chewing on a slice of bacon.

"Well… let's keep that a surprise, hmm?" His wife said seductively, running her hands across his body.

Tom finished his meal and put the plate on the little desk that sat next to his bed. He turned over and looked into his wife's eyes, remembering the moment 12 years ago when he first stared into her eyes. Tom leaned forward and kissed his wife, lasting several minutes of joy for him and his wife, Danica.

Tom leaned over and looked at the clock. 11:17. Tom looked at his watch, which told him it was a Sunday and then leaned over and continued to kiss his wife. Eventually, he pulled away and decided to get dressed. Danica made a disappointed clicking sound with her mouth. Tom looked at her, smiled and said "Soon. Very soon."

Tom took his wife by her hand and told her to get dressed and go outside. Of course, he wouldn't tell her what was waiting outside for her. As she walked down the stairs and out though the kitchen, she couldn't believe what she saw. A band. A band playing her favourite songs. Her favourite songs reaching from rock songs to romance. She walked out and found Tom smiling and laughing. She found a reclining chair, sat back and relaxed. While listening, she took into full effect of her garden. A beautiful, rainbow of colour which covered her entire garden. Danica and Tom spent many days, even weeks, making this garden perfect for the couple.

It was many hours later when the band started to head home after playing all of Danica's favourite songs. When they started to leave, the sun started to settle. Tom walked over to Danica. She turned and gave him a look of absolute joy. She jumped up, hugged and then kissed him several times before saying thank you. Tom took her hand again and headed indoors. Tom put Danica's favourite film on the big screen – Lovin' on the Beach.

Danica and Tom laid down on the large, grand sofa and cuddled up to each other. The film would go on for many hours into the night, so Tom came prepared with many snacks, drinks and other related items. Halfway into the film, Tom asked: "Have you ever thought about it?"

Danica replied: "Thought about what?" Tom said bluntly "Kids."

Danica went silent. She remained this way for several minutes until Tom questioned her with the word "Well?" Danica turned and looked into Tom's eyes. "Yes, Tom, I have" Danica whispered. Danica continued to look into Tom's eyes until she said "Well, Maybe. Whenever you're ready." Tom sat up, still looking into Danica's eyes. Danica laid down and Tom moved forward.

Several months had passed and Danica had received the news that she was pregnant. Tom and Danica had spent the last few months preparing for the baby's arrival. It was the week that the baby was going to be born. It was going to be a he. However, when it arrived the 'he' was actually a 'she'. Tom and Danica were pleasantly surprised at this, due to the fact that they wanted a daughter and not a son. Alas, they did not have a name for the baby girl. A thought popped into Tom's head. "Heather." He said. The girl that caused so much pain in his life after she took her life many years before. Danica nodded. "Well baby Heather, Welcome to the world" Tom whispered.

And with that, Baby Heather giggled.
