The rain ran in torrents down his skin, he felt regret and sadness he was caught, imprisoned and lost. He felt himself begin to fall back wards and he saw her face crystal eyes and strong features and long, long brown hair fluttering in the wind. He did not bother to move and watched eyes open staring up at the gray sky, the rain and his own tears running mixed with each other. He let his mind wander to happier times, as the mud swirled around his hair.
The moon was full and crisp the stars shone down on the pale skin of a young girl alone beneath the moon light in the empty ally way. Vastias watched her from above silently perched on a roof top holding a flute he had been playing only moments before. The girl below had suddenly appeared when a meteor shower fell though the sky Vastias had stopped to watch in awe as they had began to gather to gather as bits of light forming the girl from the feet up to the head then mostly formed had played with the light as it finished her finger tips. Vastias had not dared to make a single sound he didn't even breathe for fear she would vanish.
She began to sing alarming Vastias her voice was sweet and melodious but with out neither emotion nor love. He was intrigued by her she who was made of stardust. She turned and just left with out another sound not even footsteps. Vastias just stared at the spot where she stood only a moment before. He wanted no needed to find her but knew nothing of her but that she lived, her back had been turned to him the whole time.
Cursing himself for not acting faster he jumped up running across the buildings roof top to roof top. Hoping to see the girl again, coming across the crowed red light district he knew that she had vanished just as quickly as she appeared. Vastias leaped from the building landing gracefully on the paved road, he looked around and saw only dirty and greedy men and hookers in every direction. Cursing himself once again, he began to walk home slowly and unhappily.
Vastiases home was located in an old building that looked like no body lived there while in actually it was an apartment building lived in by himself and four other tenants. This was a temporary living arrangement until Vastias could move else wear he had enough money to but was using it to go to high school and he would have to buy new books soon and they cost a lot now a days not to mention the class fees.
Vastias lived alone for one simple reason he hated the stifling life he had lived for the first seventeen years of his life. His parents were extremely rich and after a fight with them he cut himself off. Sure living alone at such a young age was hard but it did beat the alternative, not living at all.
He had a part time job that paid fairly well and he saves most if not all of his monthly pay checks. All he wanted to do was build his own legacy and not live under the rule of his parents and be forced to succeed them his sister could take care of that.
But now Vastias had something more to live for, a curiosity of sorts, one that kept him awake that night. When he did sleep he dreamt of he turning around and seeing her face each time he saw it was different some stunning others beautiful and most gorgeous but no two the same, like a snow flake.
When Vastias awoke in the morning he felt usually groggy and slowly began to believe that the girl he had seen the night before was just a part of his dreams. Though as he traveled the streets that morning he couldn't help but wonder witch woman was the stardust girl?
He went to school that morning despite the terrible temptation to skip and stay home. The school was a reddish brown brick building with windows riming the second and bottom floors bushes and trees served as decorations on the campus grounds.
During lunch break Vastias pulled out the small silver flute that he had been playing the night before. He began to play but was promptly interrupted by a soft voice.
"Hello."
Vastias turned to see a girl about a year maybe two years younger than him she had brown long hair that went to her waist and a well defined jaw line but strangely enough did not make her look masculine in any way shape or form. She was wearing a white skirt that ended just above her knees her shirt was well fitted but still was lose in away with a small fabric rose placed on one shoulder.
She looked at Vastias with large intent eyes shaded by thick lashes. Mostly over all Vastias decided she looked normal and if he walked past her in the halls the chance of him noticing her were near zero.
She spoke once more "I'm new here mind if I sit with you?"
Vastias nodded his approval. "Where did you come from?" he asked casually not really wanting to know but he might as well ask.
"Sorry that's a secret." She answered
He turned to look at her she was knelling next to him one hand on the ground with the other she had placed a single finger on her lip on which she wore a smirk and was winking at him. That was when Vastias took interest.
"Okay then can you tell me what your name is at least?"
"Fine if you insist" she said like she was forced to "its polvere di stelle, but you can call what me ever you please."
Vastias smiled at polvere di stelle thinking that was all he ever wanted to call her. "I think I'll call you just that." He said.
"Cool," she looked as if she was to say more but the school bell rang and they were to move on to their last class of the day.
It occurred to Vastias that it was odd that some body would start school only a month after it had started, but that name it was amazing and beautiful.
