Truth Means Death
I wish someone would tell me why
lying is human nature
even though the truth is hard
to tell it is still right
even those you love so much
will give in to the spell
your innocence is shed away
the moment you first lie
I wish someone would tell me why
people go to war
fighting is not the only answer
to problems we all face
we hold onto our hatred
and keep our anger near
hurting others brings us joy
if only for a second
I wish someone would tell me why
we shun those who are different
when difference is what founded
the world we know today
our history has shown
our favorite way to handle
those we feel as a threat
because they are not the same
I wish someone would tell me
what sacrifice means
humans have warped its definition
to fit our current actions
people give away possessions
or even offer up their life
in order to save or protect
but sacrifice means more
I wish some one would tell the world
that love is always false
every culture views it differently
just as every species does
the word is used carelessly without
thought or as an understatement
and each time spoken its meaning
is distorted farther from the truth
I wish someone would tell me why
lying is human nature
why we consider ourselves better
why we overlook the truth
but no one will tell me why
humans claim to be
striving for a better future
when their actions scream death
