Lie close
and let me imagine you a blissful tomorrow
my child

Tomorrow's sun will warm through your soul
the grass will be green once more
and no rain will wash your joy
night will come at it's time
and not a moment too soon
old man moon will watch you sleep
and the stars will kiss your fair head
goodnight

Tonight the sirens scream a lullaby
and rats are our stars in the sky
you awake and you're cold
blue lips match the threadbare jumper
a passing drunk: our man in the moon
the suns ink has stained your tear tracked face
and the ground is grey and not green
we dream a pavement dream
