Hello, fellow Fiction Press readers! It's TheConfusedNewbie here! I'm new, so I need to learn. Sorry the chapters are short. I received this inspiration from "The Mysterious Benedict Society". It's a really good book, you must read it. Hope you enjoy the story. Constructional criticism is much appreciated. Don't hate please! I'm still a beginner at writing.
I own everything. The idea, plot, everything.
It was a cool morning, in the bustling city of Moontown. Here lived a curious boy named Orion. Now, Orion was not a normal boy. He did not like things others did. He was not interested in the latest gossip, magazines, and such. Now, in the mind of this curious boy lay a deep mystery. It was a riddle, which has been yet to be solved. Now, we dive into the mind of this curious boy, and see what the mystery is to be.
"Orion, are you there?"
"Yes, Mrs. Petunia," I replied.
"Can you answer my question?" Mrs. Petunia inquired.
"Um… what question?" I anxiously replied.
"Orion! Pay attention!" Mrs. Petunia exclaimed. The whole class laughed.
"Sorry Mrs. Petunia," I stated.
"I asked, how do we find the area of a circle?" Mrs. Petunia asked.
"The area of a circle is ," I said.
"Very well. Class dismissed."
Everyone rushed out of the classroom, some throwing balls at me. Ugh. I can't help it if I'm a teacher's pet. Walking out of the classroom I overheard something.
"Hey, have you heard about the Puzzle group?" a fellow classmate said.
"Yeah! I'm going to audition today. Everyone who entered has lost, and I'm confident I'll make it in," the other said.
"Where's it held?"
"It's held in room 305B. By the way, it starts now. Catch ya later!"
Hmm… a puzzle group. I think I'll audition. I've always had a knack for puzzles! I do believe he said Room 305B…
A few minutes of searching...
Alright! I'm here. Wait a minute.
"Sorry, I can't help you," I heard a girl smiling sympathetically at a girl. She soon headed toward the door.
"You auditioning too?" said a plain looking girl wearing plain glasses, shoes, shirt, and pants. It was the same girl who was just refused!
"Yeah, I overheard some kids talking and I was interested," I replied.
"Well, some bullies took the eraser I brought with me. Do you have any extra?" she replied.
"Well, I only have one… So I don't think so," I replied. I felt sorry for her. She wouldn't be able to participate in the test.
"Oh ok," she sadly spoke.
Suddenly, I felt a strong feeling, urging me to help her. She seemed like she was really hopeful. Well, everyone else did too. But I still decided to help her, thinking up a clever plan. "Wait! Here," I took out my trusty Swiss Army knife, and cleanly cut the eraser in two. "You can have this half, I'll take the other."
She appeared amazed. "Thank you!" she exclaimed. "My name is Aria, by the way," And so, she headed toward the door.
Hmm, I wonder what's past that door. There was no long line like I expected. Hmm… Maybe the puzzle inside is big. Maybe it's a maze! Well, there's no time to waste! I jumped into the room.
Woah… What is this?
