Incantation
Like a single drop of blood
On the wood of you doorframe
Like the silver of our candlesticks
That we light every Friday
Like the special name they call me
Only when we are alone
Like the secret room in the basement
With books of which no one knows
The name you call me
Is not the one God knows me by
And the ways you seal a pray
Is different than mine
The language you speak
Is never uttered in my house
And you'll never see the red thread
Hidden under my blouse
We are not who we say
Or even who we pretend to be
You and I are of two
Completely different legacies
We are the same river
Of two separate seas
