Hey guys! Sorry for the long wait. I had a pretty hard time writing this chapter but it finally came together with two very close friends of mine Taylor and Alyssa. Anyways I would love it if you would Read and Review as reviews make my day. As always, characters and outfits are on my polyvore, the link is on my profile. Onwards with Thy story.
It was finally the day of the party. Taylor and Alyssa were coming over to my house so that we could ride to the party together. It was still early yet for them to get here. I decided to go ahead and take a shower and get ready. I styled my hair into loose wavy curls and my makeup was done very light and natural. I put on my dress, a floral babydoll dress paired with white sandals, and my gold starfish jewelry.
"Hey Cort! You ready for the party?" Taylor asked. Her hair had loose curls in it and her makeup was natural. She was in a beige mullet hem chiffon bandeau dress. Her turquoise jewelry added color. Her shoes were gold studded gladiator sandals.
"Hey lovelies!" Alyssa came in all smiles. Her brown hair was slick at the top and then it had tight curls. Her makeup was done lightly with pink blush and lipstick and the rest was done in neutral colors. She was wearing a lace, cream top with a wide brown belt, and her skirt was a yellow mini bubble skirt. Her jewelry was bronze and her shoes were brown sandals.
"Yeah, I'm ready. I just have to find my hat." With that I walked back into my closet and searched through my hats until I found the one that matched my dress, it was a cream hat with a black band around it.
"Okay, let's go." I said as I walked out of my closet, grabbing my keys.
"Lets go party!" Taylor all but yelled as we got in my car and headed for the beach.
When we finally arrived at the party it was already in full swing.
"Hey guys let's go talk to Maia, she looks pretty lonely." Alyssa stated, looking off to the side where Maia was standing.
Taylor seemed distracted as we walked to where Maia was, gazing in the direction of the bar.
"I'm going to go talk to someone real quick." She said, fleeing towards the bar.
"Ohhkay that wasn't weird at all." I said sarcastically, about to approach Maia.
Alyssa had a strange look on her face as she tracked down who Taylor was talking to.
"You okay A?" I asked with a frown, concerned that something was wrong.
"Yeah everything's just peachy." She blew me off.
As I headed toward the bar where James was standing I wondered if he would remember me from before, I had changed a lot in the 5 years he was gone. When I came back down to Earth I realized I had already made it to where he was standing.
"Hey James, long time no see!" I beamed with a sultry grin.
"Oh, hey!" He gave me one of those, yeah I know who you are smiles.
"How've you been?" I asked trying to keep the conversation going.
"I've been good." He said while eyeing me up and down. "Why don't we get a drink for the lovely lady?" He asked the bartender before looking back at me. " What would you like to drink?"
"How about a 'Sex on the Beach'?" I answered with the same sultry grin as before.
He took a big gulp of air before ordering my drink.
"So what's your name again?" He asked.
"You really don't remember me?" I asked looking skeptical.
" I would think so considering how close our families are! I'm one of Cortney's best friends!" I tried to hint at it.
"Okay that leaves two people and you can't be Alyssa, so you're Taylor Cole, right?" He finally said after a few seconds of pondering.
"Have I really changed that much?" I asked sarcastically, practically leaning against him.
"Well you sure have grown up. I remember you being a lot smaller." He said while looking at my chest.
I considered how to reply when suddenly he leaned down and kissed me.
"How about we take this somewhere more private?" I asked taking his hand before walking away from the crowd.
"Hey Maia, I love your dress! It's very you," I exclaimed as we finally reached her. It was a dark teal dip hem belted dress that she paired with gold and teal jewelry and simple brown sandals. Her teal eyeshadow and baby pink lip gloss created a majestic illusion.
"Hey! Thank you, it's been in my closet for ages."
"Well it still looks awesome!" I stated looking around to see if I could find Taylor. When I didn't find he I started to get worried. She normally didnt go and disappear without saying anything.
"Do you know who Taylor went to talk to?" I asked Maia and Alyssa.
"No, but it must have been important to rush off so fast." Maia stated with a smirk.
With that she left to go talk to some hot guy named Parker, he had a dark complection and dark hair. His eyes were a deep brown and he dressed in casual jeans and a T-shirt. When I really looked at him I noticed that he was my pool boy.
When the song Lights by Ellie Goulding came on I decided it was time to stop worrying and to start partying. When I became aware of my surroundings again I notice that it had been two hours and Taylor still wasn't back.
I parted from the crowd to see Alyssa staring in horror in the direction to the left of me. I looked quickly to see Taylor coming at us with a huge smile on her face. As she got closer I could see that her skin was sweaty and glowing.
"Where the hell have you been?" I asked, frustrated.
"And where is you necklace?" Alyssa asked. Taylor reached up to feel that her necklace was missing. I reached to fix her dress that was twisted to the side.
"Good lord Taylor. Learn to check yourself out in the mirror before coming back out into public next time!" I whispered.
"Well I saw a guy I knew from years ago and wanted to talk to him. Anyways one thing led to the another and you can guess what happened next." She smirked.
"Yeah, okay. I got it. We don't need a play by-play." Alyssa grimaced.
"Speaking of people who haven't been in town in a while," I quickly changed the subject."My brother's finally back from college!"
"Wow! Did he finish up college already or is he just taking a break?" Taylor asked looking faintly flustered.
"No, he didn't finish, Dad set up an internship at the office."
"So, he'll be in town for a little while?" Taylor asked seemingly very curious.
Alyssa seemed to notice that as well because she asked Taylor about it. "Why are you so curious about him being back in town? It's not like he will look at you twice.
Taylor looked at her with a hateful glare. "And its not like he would give you a second glance." She bit back earning a shocked look from the both of us.
"Jesus Tay! She was just kidding! He hasn't been in town a week and you two are already arguing over him." I practically yelled.
They both shut up after that.
"Now that you are both chilled out, I'm going to go get something to drink." With that I left them to simmer and stew in their own thoughts.
When I got to the bar I saw that Daniel was bartending. My heart raced as I saw him maneuver past the other waiters with such knowledge of what he was doing. He was wearing a plain black wife beater and well-worn and washed jeans, his usual converse were replaced with nice sperrys.
"Hey Daniel! I didn't know you were working here tonight. If I had known I would have stopped by earlier!" I said before I could filter it. Wow Cortney, way to make yourself seem desperate.
"Hey Cortney. I saw you on the dance floor." He stated with a chuckle. "You're a pretty good dancer."
"Thanks. What time is your shift over? We could dance together. It's gotta be more fun that it was dancing by myself." I blushed.
"That would be fun but I have a girlfriend. You know the new girl in town? Hannah?" He state with a self depreciating smile.
" Oh yeah I've seen her around a few times but I forgot what she looks like." I tried to hide the disappointment out of my voice but by the look on his face.
"Yeah, I'm sorry Cortney. If I didn't have a girlfriend I would be all for it." He said looking down at the drink he was mixing.
"Oh, I understand. Umm if I could just get a coke I'll get out of your way." I said quietly.
"Yeah totally." He quickly did as I asked. As I turned to leave I ran into Hannah. Her hair was straight and she had no makeup on. Her maxi dress was plain and boring with bright blue sandals.
"Sorry" I said before making a quick exit before I started to cry feeling humiliated.
With that I grabbed the girls and told Maia bye before heading home to cry my heart out in a bowl of Chocolate Chip Ice cream.
