John

We took shifts watching her.

It's morning and it's my turn again.

I didn't sleep at all that night. I just kept thinking of her.

I caused all of this.

And that voice...I know heard it. I know it was real, but I couldn't think about my sanity...or lack of it right now. I was too worried about Lucy.

She hadn't moved all night.

I looked at the clock. It was almost 8:30.

I picked up the bottle of liquid and stared at it.

"What do you do?" I asked the bottle.

"Great, now I'm talking to inanimate objects...and myself."

I filled the needle with the liquid.

"Ok Lucy, this is going to make you better." I prepared her arm.

*"Stop!"*

"Huh?"

I heard the strange voice from last night.

I looked around the room to make sure I was alone. Nothing.

"Your not going insane John, your just stressed." I assured myself.

I looked back at the clock. It was exactly 8:30 now. I went for her arm again.

*"Wait!"* The voice got louder.

"I can't wait. The doc said to give her the medicine now or she'll die." I yelled back at the voice.

*"She will die if you give it to her. It is poison to her."*The voice started to fizzle out.

I looked at the empty bottle.

"It's not poison. If it were poison it would say poison on it and there would be a funny little picture of a dead face on it."

The voice didn't reply. I checked the clock. It was 8:32 now.

"No more stalling. He gave her the same stuff yesterday and she's still alive so it's not poison."

"Not just poison. The voice said poison to her. Whats that suppose to mean?"

"Well, if I don't do it she could die, and I trust a doctor I can actually see more than a crazy voice in my head."

I held her arm out and found the blood vein.

*"No."* I hardly heard the voice.

"Shut up" I whispered.

Right before I stuck the needle into her arm her hand grabbed me.

"Lucy?"

I dropped the needle on the ground.

She opened her eyes.

"John?" She whispered.

"Yeah, I'm right here. You fell off the dock and hit your head. You've been asleep for almost 12 hours."

She looked at me. Her eyes were wrong. They weren't blue and shining. They were grey and lifeless.

"Water." Her voice was weak, like she couldn't breath.

She tried to sit up.

"The doctor that came to check on you last night said not to give you any water because it would mess up the medication."

I held her down.

"Don't move you might hurt yourself. You need to rest."

I picked the needle up.

"The doc said to give you this. It might be a water substitute kind of thing."

"No!... I need...real...water...can't ...breath...John...help." She gasped for breath after every word.

"Lucy, what's wrong?"

*"Water!."*

"I don't have time for you right now, she's dying!"

"Help...water...need...please." Suddenly she screamed, cutting off her words. Her body stiffed and started to shake.

"Lucy!" I yelled as I grabbed her shoulders, trying to keep her still.

"Help!" I yelled through the door.

Everyone came running.

"What's wrong?" Paul yelled as he walked through the door.

"What did you do!" He ran over to us.

"I haven't done anything!"

*"Water."*

"What?" I said it out loud.

The voice was messing with my head.

"What do you mean what!" Paul yelled back in frustration.

"Should I call the doctor?" George asked, still in the doorway with Ringo.

They didn't want to get in the way so they hung back.

*"No!"*

"No!" The voice screamed so loud that I had to scream with it.

"Why not? The doctor said to call if something happens to her and something's happening right now!"

"I know something's wrong but I just have a feeling we shouldnt call him."

*"Put her in the...water...ocean...now...she...die."* The voice started to fade away.

"Well, what have I got to lose."

"...her." I added to myself.

I picked her up and carried her out of the room.

The others followed me.

"What the hell are you doing? Put her back your going to hurt her" Ringo tried to take her from me but I was too fast for him.

I ran to the end of the dock were it was the deepest.

*"Now!"*

"I hope you know what you're doing." I took a deep breath and with her still in my arms, jumped.
