Chapter Eight

Cassandra watched the two converse. They held a certain fondness between them that she and Nikita had never developed. She was in the job for the admittedly good money she made an hour, but Elizabeth; she could tell, was there for another reason. It could have been her curiosity or it could have been something akin to a blossoming friendship. But whatever it was... there was nothing keeping her there. She could leave any time she wanted and he wouldn't bat an eyelid. Nikita was always a strange child, but as he grew up, she watched him eat, sleep and breathe without anything other than a dull blank look in his congealed yellow eyes.

Wow! It's been a while. I've just been feeling a bit funny recently.
