The ties that hold

Me to you

Still exist

My resistance

Wasn't strong enough

I didn't try to stay away

But part of me

Couldn't help but wonder

If there was some bit of TRUTH

To what everybody kept saying

The time spent away

Almost made every thought

About our relationship

Go away

It made sense

Putting the pieces together

But it didn't seem like you

How do I know

What is and isn't

True?

Seeing you again, now

I've realized that the ties are still there

And that they ain't going no where

No matter what anyone says or does

There'll always be a bit of something between us

Kind of like love
