Theme: Women As Agents Of Change
A/N This was written for a poetry class I went for, about a female icon which inspires me. I chose Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany. I think she has accomplished a lot, and is Forbes' 4th Most Powerful Person, and Most Powerful Woman. She was nicknamed 'The Iron Lady', thus the title. I hope you all like it!
'The Iron Lady', the title suits her well
Forbes' Most Powerful Woman
She firmly grips the certificate
A grateful yet professional smile on her face
As they proudly announce her name
"Angela Merkel
Chancellor of Germany"
_._._._._.
'Die Iron Frau', 'The Iron Lady'
Her composure clam and steady
Standing firm like a boulder
As the roaring winds, the falling countries
Try to break her, clawing at her money
To bail them out of the crisis
She puts her foot down and the air goes still
Angela Merkel, the Iron Lady
_._._._._.
'The Iron Lady'
Saving the world and our environment
Promoting electric cars
Using renewable energy
Who can deny that she
Cares for the Earth
Cares for our lives
When the world calls for help
She answers with care
Its voice echoes through the valleys
"Thank you, Angela Merkel
Thank you, Iron Lady"
_._._._._.
And so thank you, Iron Lady
For giving me hope
For inspiring me
To fight, to show the world
What we women can do
A/N I thought the ending was a little cheesy, but it was the best I could come up with. Thank you all for reading and please review!
