Scene 3: Lucy's Interview
(The commercial break ends.)
Dave: Please welcome tonight's final guest, Lucy!
(The audience applauds as Lucy walks onto the stage and takes a seat in the chair across from Dave.)
Dave: (smiles at Lucy) Hello Lucy.
Lucy: Hello Dave.
Dave: If you don't mind me asking, what kind of monster are you?
Lucy: I'm a demon.
Dave: Were you born a demon?
Dave: Did something happen to make you a demon?
Dave: What was that?
(Lucy starts to get uncomfortable, thinking about the science experiment that made her the way it is.)
Lucy: I'd prefer not to talk about it.
Dave: You can trust me, Lucy. I won't tell anyone.
Lucy: (scowls) In case you haven't noticed, there are cameras around.
(Dave tries to reassure Lucy.)
Dave: Just pretend they're not there.
(Lucy starts pretending there are no cameras around.)
Lucy: I was once a normal girl. I had parents. Until that horrible day my mom died of cancer. My dad was so distraught that he killed himself.
Dave: What happened to you?
Lucy: I was taken to an orphanage and raised there until I was 14, then I got kidnapped by scientists. I was asleep when that happened. The scientists performed an experiment on me. As a result of that experiment, I was turned into a demon.
Dave: Was that their intention?
Lucy: You mean the scientists?
Lucy: Then yes. It was. They wanted to see if they could turn a human into a demon without them being possessed.
Lucy (bitterly): And lo and behold, they were successful.
Dave: Thank you for telling me that, Lucy. It must have been really difficult.
Lucy: It was; but it's kind of nice to open up about my life, I guess.
Dave: Have you ever talked to anyone about your life before?
Lucy: No. May I please leave now? The full moon is rising, and if I don't leave soon, things will get really ugly.
Dave: Yes Lucy. I can't think of anymore questions, so you may leave. Thank you for coming.
Lucy: Thank you for having me.
(Lucy leaves, and Dave turns to the audience.)
Dave: See you next time on The Dave Currie Show!
