Didn't start this with a religious theme in mind, but that's how it ended up. The verse in the poem is 2 Timothy 1:7. Let me know if it's any good!
Fear:
It seizes my heart like
A deadly python,
Strangling me until I am gasping for breath.
I fight, fight it until I exhaust myself.
I know what I need to do
To overcome it, but I can never
Get enough strength.
I crumble and collapse under
The intense pressure of being afraid.
But soon I learn a valuable lesson:
Our God has not given us a spirit
Of fear, but of power, of love,
Of a sound mind.
So when I hear the python
Slithering toward me,
I turn around with a sword in my hand
And face him, saying,
"I am ready."
So, what do you think?
