The Classroom at 1st Period
The chair has a wobble unlike any other
The bottom is etched with a curse to my mother
The desks are etched and worn
Either with symbols or porn
The corners are chipped
And the "secret" message on the floor is ripped
The linoleum is scuffed and stained
And puddles on the floor have gathered from the rain
The one to the right of me is soaked to the brim
With his hand resting 'neath his chin
The walls are posted with previous assignments
With no actual grid or alignment
Up front the desk is covered with everything you can think
Setting teachers to the brink
And behind the desk comes the noise
Directed toward the girls and boys
I gaze at the clock and I do sigh
For it is only 8:25
