Faeries had taken my friend. No, not fairies, the small lovely magic winged beings that everyone knew from bedtime stories. These faeries were the most amazingly beautiful humanlike demons, but to me, they were wicked, grotesque creatures.

Being me, I loved mythology, so I knew these monsters' one weakness.

Iron.

The touch of that simple metal could make, even the most large and powerful of these creatures, come falling to the ground.

I fell to my knees on the rocky dirt, hands shaking furiously.

"Kelsey!" I sobbed over and over again. I slammed my hands desperately against the moist soil, some or the muddy substance's color sticking to my sweaty palms, and then he found me. He helped me up and stood with me, while hot salty tears blurred my vision as I searched for her, eyes skimming over the treetops.

My best friend, my unrelated twin. They had taken her, and I was going to get her back if it killed me.
