A Dozen Roses Mean Nothing to Me
The emotions won't control you
Don't say something you might regret…
Hold your tongue,
Bite your lip.
Nod and say
"It's all okay."
Then exhale, stand,
And walk away.
Remember the snapshots,
Placed in the photo frames.
Hurriedly taken and shoved away
In this moment, into the bowels
The faded pictures of the good times.
Back when everything was simple
Love was more than mere gestures
Or cryptic riddles.
It was a simple
Yes or no.
And that's all.
It won't be that way again…
It can't be that way again…
