I'm unsure if there should be a disclaimer or not, cuz lots of anime guys have animal ears, and Cam IS purely my idea, but Fade is a little TOO closely related to Inuyasha lol.

A Pleasant Mid-Day Stroll
"I see... you love her..." I whispered quietly.
Fade hesitaited, dark eyebrows furrowing.
I reached out and brushed my fingers along his golden cheek. It felt so warm.
A small pink shade quickly spread across them.
Smiling weakly, I wrapped my arms his waist and lied my head upon his red frallo-covered chest. I closed my eyes as my smile grew, his heartbeat a beautiful melody I could have listened to my whole life.
I felt his hands hold me tightly, against him. I silently noticed how much warmer he was than anyone else I've ever hugged, how I fit so perfectly in his arms. I smiled even more pitifully. Mari-ri will be blessed.
Fade gently rested his cheek on my sunset hair, and spoke in such a soft tone. "Why are you upset?"
"I'm not upset, idiot." My voice cracked.
"Obviously. But really... what's wrong?" I swear, if I had looked up, I probably would've melted into nothing... right here. Forever.
His long midnight hair drifted onto my shoulders as a bittersweet wind blew by, cold yet warm, and carrying small beautiful dandilions with the breeze. They glistened slightly, probably from the sun-shower in the morning.
Or maybe from the river of tears that now rained from my hazel eyes.
I buried my face into Fades shoulder. Hopefully he won't notice. I am, after all, the girl who never cried. The girl who, when cried, never made a sound.
"C'mon, Cam, you got my frallo wet." I could tell he was joking from the playful tone in his voice.
Silence.
"It... It's from the rain." I muffled.
"Sure?"
I guess he realized my crying was actually beginning to rival my first meltdown, 'cause he tightened our embrace that was already pretty tight.
He rocked me a little, and believe it or not, it was really sweet coming from a tough guy like him.
"Uhhh...no more crying, ok? Umm.."
I giggled at his flustered tone, all confused and slightly higher.
"Wha...what're you laughing at, bitch?"
I laughed even more. "You're rocking me like a baby." I opened my eyes and the weeping spell I was under vanished completely. I nestled a little more into his chest and heard his slightly speeding heartbeat. I smiled. It must be weird hugging a girl, especially if the poor guy never even received hugs, let alone give.
"Yeah, well..." He started. I felt his words vibrate. It was soothing.
"...Hey."
I looked up, to be met with an intense navy gaze.
Of course, there goes my brain.
Sir, have you been drinking?
Why, yes. I had my daily doze of Fade. I swear, it's better than any painkiller.
Yep...
I faintly heard Fade ask if I was ok now, and I felt like saying," Never been betterrr." Like a drunk man.
You know, all slurry and crap.
"... yeah."
He looked around bashfully, sratching the back of his neck, awkwardly. His right perky dog ear flicked.
"Why did you cry?" He mumbled, than looked at me, expectantly.
"Ehhh... I actually have no idea." I answered, truthfully.
Figures, he always wants to protect me from everything; emotional, spiritual, demonic, magical, physical.
He looked suddenly downcast, with his shadowy ears drooping and his handsome face pouting. His eyes aimed at a suspicious bumble bee, bumbling about in the flowers.
Fade glared at it, his adorable ears now pressed against his skull.
"... Fade, it wasn't the bee. Poor little guy was just collecting nectar." I was dead serious, although I was struggling to keep a straight face.
" But he probably stung-"
" He didn't sting me. If he did, would he be buzzing around still?"
"Probably. That bastard's just LOOKING for trouble." Fade shot daggers at the fat thing.
The bee fell.
" FADE! You killed it!" I said while giggling.
" How?" He growled, dog canines bared.
" You were practically STABBING it with your eyes! ANYONE would have died from that look."
"Feh!"
I ran from his arms-
"HEY!"
- and kneeled down in the violet flowers that were clustered together in the garden we were in. Kneeling down, I searched the ground for a small black and yellow body.
" Isn't that the dumbass? Dosen't give up, does he?" Fade muttered. "Just like the damn bitch..."
"Where is he?" I ran to the crouching Fade in the violets. I got on my hands and knees, frantically scanning the wrong spots.
" He's right here." He pointed a strong, calloused hand to a twitching insect.
I felt his confused glace on me as I carefully gathered the shivering bee in my hands.
" Nothing deserves to die, you know..." The bees wings flapped, failing to lift it's too big body.
" Sometimes, those who die are given a gift. Like if Lucifer dies. It's a gift. While he cannot fully die, his physical form dying is a gift to everyone. Lucifer can finally rest in peace for a little while, along with the world."
Fade listened intently, ears cupped.
"Lucifer dosen't deserve such peace. But we're doing it for him, I'M doing it for him. Death is a blessing for his tortured soul..."
The bee began to glow purple, casting bleeding colors upon my black body suit, bars of light stretching across the gray metal belts on it.
"While little animals, like the bee and big animals, like us deserve a chance to be remembered. Instead of fading with the wind, they'll be remebered everytime something terrible comes up, and all animals, big and small, will turn towards the special animal as a source of light in a never-ending darkness."
The bee started to flutter, buzzing again as my warm light disappeared...with the wind. It flew around me and Fade for a bit as a way of thanks (I think), and flew off, chasing the sun.
Fade looked at me in understanding, and I beamed. He truly had changed.
He's more open and brave. Instead of just stupid and reserved when I first saw him.
I must've been staring 'cause he scowled, his understanding replaced with a bad case of pissed-off. " The hell you lookin' at, bitch?"
I sighed."Forget it..."
"Forget what?"
"I thought you had stopped being a jerk, but I guess I was wrong..."
"I am NOT a jerk, bitch!"
"Are too."
"Am not!"
"DENIAL!"
Fade made a sound somewhere between a choke and a "KEH"!
Suddenly, I giggled again and looked at the clouds tumbling across the blue sky, little Cerulean Warbler birds (or some "this dimenstion version" of them) soaring past.
Fade will always be stubborn, angry, opinionated, violent Fade, but he will also be caring, clever, handsome and brave Fade, too.
" She's some lucky girl."
Fade snapped his head around to look at me. Shock spread though-out his beautiful raven eyes.
He's so transparent. But that's another reason why the girl will be so lucky. It's so funny he can't even pull off a poker face.
I tittered.
"Why so quiet, Fade? Cat got'cha tongue?"
"Oi! No using my lines against me, bitch!" He hissed back, but his expressive eyes still revealed he was completely shocked.
"Sure, sure." I suppressed the urge to crack up. Even though I wasn't facing him.
I felt his glare. Is he TRYING to kill me?
"You're shooting daggers. I would stop it if you don't want me to die."
Now it was just baseballs being pelted at my forehead. Dang, no wonder the bee died.
...
...
...
You know, this is actually pretty funny.
...
...
...
Just a peek. I wont crack up.
...
I won-
Fade was staring at me with a face so focused it was practically constipated.
I can't hold it in! I'm gonna explode!
~.~
So, here I am, 5 minutes later and still laughing my ass off.
Fade gave me "The Evil Eye" which was so creepy, it made me laugh even more.
He also gave me "The Gone Autumn" look, meaning he thought I was PMSing like no freaking tomorrow.
Here I am...
Laugh
Laugh
Craps (almost)
Laugh
Laugh
Pisses (pretty freakin' close)
Laugh
L-Hiccup
o.o
HICCUP
O.O
"Aww, ma-aaan," I said. "I got the hiii-cups."
"Stupid girl. That's what'cha get for laughing at me, bitch." Fade was the one laughing now, ears swiveling around...AWWWW! Grrr.
"If I had fangs, I'd bite you, yoo-oou know that?"
He seemed mildly amused by my statement. "Oh really?," he smirked. "You couldn't bite me anyway. You probably wouldn't even scratch me."
I saw him ponder about it, a pensive look rippling a shade of violet across his black orbs.
"Huh!" I completely turned around in the velvet flowers, away from Fade, and assumed majorly ticked-off mode.
One second we're cuddling up like lovers-I mean-the best of best friends, the next we're shouting insults regarding my hiccups from my laughing attack.
Oh yeah. We are DEFANITLY PMSing.
Hiccup!
"I hear you hiccuping." Fade pointed out helpfully.
"SHUT UU-UUP!"
Dang it.
Stupid hiccups.
Stupid Fade.
Stupid "Constipated Face."
I held my breathe. 10...9...
Fade chose that time to look at me with eyes full of mockery.
8...7...6...
I was starting to get pissed at him. Psh, looking at me like a... like... I have no clue. He was just mocking me!
5...4...
"Hey, Cam," he started.
3...
"Why'd you say-"
2...
"-That the girl I loved-"
1...
"-Was lucky?"
"No reason, just handing out courage to the stupid." I mocked. Thank God the hiccups were gone.
Suddenly, he looked up meeting my eyes with a iron lock, and I was trapped.
I was subconciously etching every detail of his face into my mind, to remember him ever after.
"Are you sure about that, bitch?" was spoken somewhere but I couldn't respond.
His soulful eyes were burning with a contained fire. A cooled shell on top, but you can see the streaks of emotion running through them. Around his pupil was a halo of grey, indigo and a little chocolate. Awing feeling bolted through them. You could actually see his passion swirling together.
"Cam?" A voice called. I ignored.
He had a perfectly straight nose, cute even, and his cheekbones were just as confident as his jaw.
And that skin tone was to die for. Golden. Golden. His face was flawless.
"Uhhh... what are you staring at exactly? Is there something on my face?" Floated in my ear just to fly out the other.
His jet black bangs framed his perfectly shaped face. And saved for last... his lips. They were so-
"Dammit, Cam! Wake up!" He bared pearly fangs at me.
I blinked. " Oh..." I felt a rush of heat come to my face. I can't believe I was gawking at that jerk!
"What the hell..." I heard Fade mutter.
"Sorry," I murmured knowing he could hear me. "I was just thinking about- err...stuff."
"What stuff?" He asked, gruffly.
"Umm... Lucifer stuff." I replied.
"You're lying." He stated.
"No, I'm not, dummy."
Out of the corner of my turned-away eyes, I saw his narrow. Then light up, mischevious.
"Oh I see..." A peculiar catch in his observation. "You're embarrassed about something!"
Scarlet stained the bridge of my nose. Damn it...
"Pfft, no!"
"Then why are you blushing?" He quipped.
"I am NOT blushing. Camilla Desirae Rose does NOT blush!"
"Says the blushing girl. Who you thinking about?" His smooth voice asked.
"No one!" I defended a little too quickly.
He smirked. Damn. Why can't he be observant when I need him to be?
"Is it...Seth?"
"No."
"Royo?"
"No."
"Lucifer?"
"You're sick."
"HOLY-"
"No, I thought that would be obvious considering he's my mom."
"True."
We fell into a somewhat tense silence. Good luck, Fade. You won't get crap from me.
"No."
"Was it... Raven?"
"Close, but no."
"How the HELL was that close to anything?" He shouted exasperated.
I was silent. I whispered something only he could hear. His ears immediatly shot up and detected the faintest sound.
Fade had risen, when he yelled and now sunk onto the ground.
"Raven... the color?"
I nodded.
"Well that dosen't help with ANYTHING." He snarled under his breath.
Actually, Fade, it's a pretty damn good one.
Sometimes, I just have to love his obliviousness.
"Is it-"
SCREW MY LIFE!
After once again being caught gawking, orange started to cut threw the darkening blue sky.
Traveling the outskirts of the garden, we relaxed, finding a good place to rest for a bit.
"You never answered my question, Cam." He spoke softly.
Very scary how kind his tone was. I was about to bolt outta there considering Lucifer had less of a temper than Fade. That is... if i COULD bolt...
"Hmmm?" I hummed, eyes closed. I was tired to the bone and resting with outstretched arms in a growing green patch of grass that was next to a huge oak tree.
Now, I was really tired here so I just absent-mindedly answered all the questions, truth or lie.
"Why would you think the girl I was with was lucky?" He asked.
"She would have a jerk like you to fight with every hour of the day." I yawned. "With your fighting, I even forgot that Aria, our friend died."
"I'll take that as a compliment." He commented.
"No, take it as an insult, Chihuahua-Ears." I replied.
"Do you really hate my ears that much?"
" Are you kidding me?" I was slurring my words now. "I absoulutly positivly LOVE your ears, Fade. They're sooo cute. Little..."
I'm going to dread my next word.
"...raven-colored..."
I said it, and even through the daze I thought I heard Fade choke.
"...dog ears..."
I woke with a yawn.
It was pitch black outside, and you could see the glittering stars with a splash of iridecent maroon strike through.
I remember, in my time... no stars were to be seen. No proof to shine through the dark, revealing a light.
I saw through The Observatory in Sites, and had seen the sun. Warmth. Tons of suns. Tons of Light.
As soon as I saw them, I believed that each sun represented a Heaven. A single person recieving a lone Heaven. A place to belong, but to belong in alone.
I lived off that will to live, to find a place to belong in, for if I hadn't, I might've taken The Shot.
I had lost that will a year before I made my wish.
But still... I'm no hypocrite. I want to be remembered. I want to make a change. Even if it's just one life... it'll be worth it in the end.
I glanced at Fade, who was dosing against the tree.
It really will.
His right ear flicked.
I suppressed the urge to squeal like a fan-girl.
It was just so CUTE.
I sighed. Maybe I'm hanging around Autumn too much.
I looked back up. Fade's sleeping. His ears are defensless. I'm awake.
A creepy smile spread across my face.
I slowly crawl over to his side, grass rustling as I did.
Ok. Girl, you can do this.
Fade had the most peaceful look on, as if the weight of the world was finally off his shoulders.
I can't do this. I can't do this.
He's sleeping so soundly, what if I disturb him?
I stretch an arm out, inching toward a VERY soft looking ear.
Right before I could feel it, the ear swiveled (eep!) then drooped a LOT.
A pained expression tore across his features.
Concern immediatly swelled in my chest, but I still reached for it.
I brushed my fingers across the ebony fur. The ear twiched.
Did... did I touch them?
I peered closer.
HO. LY. CRAP. I did. I touched Fades ear.
I didn't even FEEL IT.
Getting bolder, I traced the outside of it with my thumb.
I was totally freaked out.
His ears were THAT SOFT?!
Ok, let me explain, I know these fur pillows from my time that were so soft, you couldn't even feel it. So freakin smooth, they felt smoother than silk.
Oh my God.
I tweaked it, feeling the fur in an unusual way. At first, it felt cool, then as I focused more on the texture, it gained warmth. It was such a pleasant feeling, really. No possible way to explain exactly how soothing the contact was.
I swear I heard Fade- the tough guy, the guy who dosen't cry- PURR.
Like as in cats. More masculine though.
O.O-
"What the HELL are you doing?" He growled.
Fade had woken up.
Fade now glared BULLETS.
...
Oh man. I'm DEAD!
"Err... there was a bug...dya- on your ear." I laughed nervously.
He eyed me for a second, then an amused look twinkled in his eyes.
He smirked. Oh God, I'm SCREWED!
"Or you just wanted to touch my, quote on quote,"adorable, RAVEN-COLORED" puppy ears."
He had hit the nail right on the head. HOW...?
"You talk right before you fall asleep."
My face contorted.
"HAHAHAHA!" Fade laughed so whole-heartedly, I was stunned for a moment.
"You should'a seen the look on your FACE!"
Wait a minute... he's laughing at ME!
I started shaking with anger.
No one, and mean NO ONE laughs at ME!
"Bitch..." He muffled, face down in the dirt.
"You were asking for it, Dog boy."
"Why'd'cha hit so hard?" Fade whined.
"It's not my fault I just recently gained pre-mature demon powers."
"Dumbass..."
"Who? You? Yeah... I know..."
"Shut the hell up, Bitch."
"I'll SMACK you upside the FACE." I warned.
Fade visibly cowered.
HA. The wuss.
END OF A SNEAK PEAK AT MY STORY, Celestial: Beyond the Shadows.
I just recently noticed that my book's characters were an AWFUL lot like Inuyasha (Fade) and Kagome (Cam).
SADIFIED.
Looks like I'll have to REDO the character design. But bitch, the personalities are staying :P
