Denied Embrace

I came back to the place where I began one day

Merrily, I scanned the vast room for your face
I looked all around, my heart starting to race
So many friends were scattered about
So many friends; I could not pick you out

You were not there; I indulged a sad sigh
One smile I missed most did not grace my eye
Under the second star, straight on to mourning

Yes, that's a Peter Pan reference. Yes, the "u" is deliberate. The image is a reference to the poem's subject, who is nicknamed my "Chihuahua."
