In Your Arms

The steel cable that is love binds me to this world, my only remaining defense against the cancer that threatens to tear me apart. The only protection against the white walls that suffocate me every day sits on the edge of my bed, whispering to me softly. "Precious," He says. "If I am at the beginning and end of everything, why do you worry? Don't you think I already have a solution to your problem?" He grasps my hand tighter, "Each scar is part of a greater plan. Come and walk with me, I'll show you the very gates of heaven."

In heaven there's no pain. Evil has no place. Lost souls are found, the broken are repaired, and love holds everything together, falling down like raindrops. And this is just the very beginning. Still clutching Him tightly, I let my knees fall to the soft sand beneath my feet. Just feet away, seashells flourished in a still ocean, calling softly the name of the Lord.

"Precious, this is my kingdom. The seashells made by my very hands, the ocean by a mere thought. But today is not the day. No, you'll breathe again, Dear One, for you live in my name, and my plans for you are better than your wildest dreams." As if upon command, the ocean swelled into waves that would've knocked me off my feet with ease, and the ground trembled in fear of the Father's name, His love holding me steady above it all. "Do not be afraid, Precious, for I am here. I will never leave you."

The waves come crashing down, engulfing me in their deep embrace. I'm pushed further from the surface, but I don't fight, for this is the ocean of my Protector. Let the waters rise.
