Within this rose

I enclose my heart

Giving you now my

Most sacred possession

Out of fear from past pain,

I hid it away

Careful to keep it out of

Reach from the infection

The petals are stained red

From when it last bled

But serve as shields, nonetheless,

From that feeling of dread

The rest of what's left became

Adorned with thorns

Keeping others at a distance as

The message forewarned

But it was you who, so bravely,

Opened by eyes

And let me see that this world

Isn't full of goodbyes

So please take care of this rose,

Promise to keep it safe

Until the day you could be mine,
