One thing found.
Fiery crash
A quick death
Confusion
Panicked search
Hopeful doubt
Pain and loss
Confusion
Void inside
One thing found
A singed shirt
Author's note: My mom died in a car crash. This poem represents the feelings I had in the few days surrounding the event. Most everything was consumed in the fire from the wreck, but one thing that the police found at the site was a dollar bill origami shirt that I had made that had been pinned to the rearview mirror.
