Chapter 1
They say that every millennium, inside the moon, life is formed. Although, even if you search until the end, no matter how far science can take you, it can never be discovered. It's just a myth, nothing more than a story some cruel life form made up. And yet, those few who remember the tale are all driven to find out whether the legend is true. The same voice calls different things to those who believe. For some it says: rainbows are your key. And for others: colours reach within white.

There stood a handsome man with a pale character. His dim; straight; black hair cut a few inches from the scalp, covered in a cold sweat. Warm hazel eyes loosing colour from tears that swell throughout. A small noise and what would be matching lips, if it wasn't for them turning blue as they were kissed from the ice in the wind. That night he wore a murky blue sweatshirt and baggy jeans covered with his wife's fresh blood. Holding her authentic silver locket close to his heart and stepping towards the edge of the sea cliff, threatening himself to jump.
The moon above him shined bright, stopping his next step to death. He raised his head enough for the light of the moon to reflect off his face; the tears began running down and he whispered "my life is over" he then raised it into a cursing shout "didn't you hear me! My wife... my Julie! She's... she's d-dead!" falling to his knees and tossing his head in hands "I have nothing left to live for... Just kill me already!" he stood, about to continue his last step, but was unexpectedly caught by a cry from behind.
He turned to see an unaccompanied baby girl led on the sharp grass with only a small white cloth to coat her body from the bitter night. He ran over to her and she was snatched into the warmth of his arms.
Her eyes were velvety that were effortlessly fascinating, with long knotted eyelashes in the colour midnight that she kept tightly pressed together. Her skin was a shade darker than his, with a metallic cherry coloured tint to her noise and ears to show her bitter state. Her brown hair fell above her shoulders into skinny, slack curls. Her lips were frozen but still set the colour of a rose. There was a need to be afraid, but that could not influence compared to her beauty.
He squeezed her tightly as she fell into a deep sleep "Whitney... my new baby girl" as he said those words to her; he placed the locked around her neck and realized he now will never let her disappear from his life.
He glanced up toward the moon once more, this time with Whitney in his upper limbs, with appreciation across his face "thank you"

"Daddy! Daddy look at me!" I yelled trying to get my voice to reach from the other side of the garden to my father's office. He came rushing out with a raised eyebrow "where are you, Whitney?"
I giggled from the tree as he scanned the scenery "up here!" he gasped, then crossed his arms and shook his head in disagreement simultaneously tapping his foot against the hard soil "Whitney get down before you hurt yourself!" he was going gray from worrying too much about my safety all the time.
I stepped onto another lower branch, but when all my weight was on it, it called out a rapid *SNAP* and broke apart from the rest of the tree leaving me falling a few feet. Before I could land on the hard ground though, my father came running from the door and luckily caught me in a tight grasp.
Putting me down he glanced at me worried to death and I returned it with an apologetic look "What were you thinking? You never know when to stop doing such dangerous things"
"I'm sorry daddy" he gave a smile "it's okay my baby girl. It's good to be adventuress sometimes" after he said that I pouted and he chuckled "what's wrong now?"
"I'm not a baby, daddy!"
"But you'll always be my baby girl" I narrowed my eyes at him and crossed my arms "but daddy I'm four! That makes me a big girl" he grabbed me by my waist; set me on his hip "even better" and kissed my forehead, as he carried me inside.

My face had tears smothered across it, as I ran towards my father so he could hug me tightly in his arms and wash my worries away.
I would cry about anything when I started school: dropping an ice-cream, not being able to read, even failing to tie my shoe made me upset. But this time I was really hurt for a reason.
My classmates were all bullies when we were little, although we were all four and five and we didn't know any better back then. They would torment me because of my eyes. My irises aren't normal like others, they erratically change colour. Sometimes they turn to red, orange, purple, completely unusual iris colours.
"What happened this time?" he said sarcastically as if I came crying from school all the time, which I did. His arms were out; I ran into them and he picked me up. When I tried telling him, all I could make out were sobs and words that weren't even close to English, let alone any language. "Shhhh. Baby girl calm down, okay?" he could tell there was something really the matter this time and not just me crying over nothing.
"Where...where's m-mommy" he froze at my sudden question. The only time I had ever asked about my mother was when I was about two years old and I was looking at my locket. Inside it had one picture of my mother and father, which said 'the happiest couple the world could ask for' just by looking at their smiles; how my father had his chest pressed against her back and arms wrapped tightly around her stomach, about to nuzzle at her soft neck.
"W-why...why don't I h-have a m-mommy?" finally recovered from his frozen state, he bowed his head while letting out a sight for a second, then looked up at me with a forced smile "your mommy... she's right here. Watching us all the time. As long as you have this," he reached over to my hand and placed in on my locket "me and your mother will always be with you. No matter how far it may seem, we are always right by your side every second of everyday"
I hooked my arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He always knew the perfect thing to say and would never get mad at me for taking my anger out on him.
Just then I remembered another reason to be upset and let out more tears onto his shirt. I couldn't see it but I knew he had his eyebrows closer and wrinkles between them to make a frown when he felt a wet patch seep through his shirt and onto his skin "what's wrong now? Baby girl, Your getting me all wet"
I picked up my head from his chest and gazed into his eyes "why do my eyes change colour, daddy? Did mommy's eyes?" he just stared back at me confused as to why I was so worried about it. They change colour whenever, you can't predict when they will, and its nothing to do with my mood, it just happens. But I don't know why it happens. Sometimes they look normal like blue, green or brown, but a lot of the time they're orange, purple or even blood red, any colour you could imagine.
"There is nothing wrong with your eyes, Whitney. Your mothers didn't change but that doesn't mean anything. Many people would love your gift as their own. Why are you asking all these questions anyway, Whit?" I just bowed my head a little. I didn't want to tell him, but it would get me know where if I didn't "c'mon you can tell daddy"
Tears came streaming down my face once again "they said I was a...f-freak...because my eyes are a curse from mommy" he just looked at my face with an apologetic look and thought kids these days can be so mean.
"Who's they?"
"Everyone..." he hugged me tighter and kissed my forehead.
"You don't need to worry about them my teary angel, I'll sort it" we both smiled at each other.
"One more thing daddy"
"What is it, baby girl?" I cupped my hand to cover one side of his ear and whispered "I promise never to cry again" it was easy to figure out he was shocked and at the same time he knew I would be able to keep it "no Whitney, it's okay to cry sometimes. And don't go making promises you can't keep"
"Too late" he chuckled and I replied with a giggle. The rest of that day felt much better than before. I was also glad to know a little more about myself and my mother.
What Do You Think? Good? Bad? You tell me!
