Her body had an eerie glow in the moonlight, pale like fresh milk it was as if she had stolen the light from the stars. she lay in a tiny heap curled up on the dirt road, not asleep nor awake almost in a trance. Benjie could scarcely breathe, never before had he seen a girl like her. Was she even from the village? No, of course not he thought to himself, surely he would have noticed someone like her. As pale as she was, she was painfully beautiful, angel like even. She looked as if she were hand sculpted by god himself, with delicate features and pale blonde hair that fell gently down her back in soft curls. He wanted to touch her to see if she was even real, thats when he saw them, her eyes. Blood red, they looked alien like and yet somehow perfect. Perhaps it was just the night, perhaps he was crazy. Thats when Glynna hit him, her hand made a sharp thunk as it made contact with his face. His hand instantly covered the spot she had cruelly attacked, God that smarted. he had completely forgotten about Glynna his childhood friend, her family owned the farm he worked at and they were in completely different worlds. She had sprung out of the womb silver spoon in hand, and he was raised a simple servant boy. "Benjie are you crazy?!" She screamed, her brows furrowed in confusion " Look around you Benjie. It's all gone. Everything is gone!" Tears began to form in her eyes as she looked at the wreckage. The city was aglow and the air was so thick with smoke and ash that Benjies nostrils and lungs burned along with his hometown. Glynna began to shake not from fear but instead rage " They are gone, all of them. Forever." Her grey eyes steeled over " we are the last ones left. Aren't we?" her mouth trembled. " No, we're not Glynna." Benjie stuttered out. "Dead, all of them, I checked. Mom, Dad, Rachel. Dead. Bandits. Had to be." She spat the words out like poison. He lifted up his hand and pointed to the small girl on the ground, Glynna glanced over at the girl shock and relief flooded in her eyes, and a tiny sob escaped her mouth. "Oh thank god, somebody else survived as well." she ran over to the girl and sat down next to her, Glynna's hand reached up to touch the girl softly on the shoulder. No response. The girl lay completely motionless as Glynna's eyebrows arched in confusion." Hello? Are you ok?" her voice was quite, uncertain and lightly saturated with fear. Still no response. Panicked thoughts ran through her head Oh god, what if she was dead as well? "no...no." she whispered breathlessly before grabbing the girl by the shoulders and shaking her frantically " No...no wake up!" tears flowed out of her dilated eyes "Wake up!" She screamed in shrill voice " Wake up, wake up!" She sat along with the girl for a few more moments eyes blank and staring, before getting up to leave. As she turned to walk away something grabbed her ankle, a tiny yelp lept out from her lips as turned to see the girls pale hand grasping her leg. Their eyes met, and momentarily Glynna felt relieved. That was until she noticed her eyes, red, deep red like freshly spilled blood. Glynna jerked back out of surprise, falling onto her royal behind. Benjie ran over to the girl and gingerly took her hand before helping her up. " Are you ok?" he cooed softly to the girl, trying not to spook her " It's alright, you're ok" the girl stared at him strangely, analyzing him, she took a step back, her face contorted with fear like a trapped animal. "Relax... we will not hurt you." He took a step towards her, her eyes widened, they had a wild look to them as she quickly glanced over at Glynna before returning her eyes to Benjie. Her mouth opened in an instant a deafening yowel exploded from her lips before she fell unconscious.
