I run down the dune to meet him. The sand that my delicate feet kick up into the sunlight glimmers momentarily. I crash into him and we tumble to the ground. We laugh as we pick ourselves up. We hold hands as we run into the warm, crystal clear ocean water. Tiny sliver fish flit around our feet as we splash in the waves. The splashes take form in mid-air. A heart, a teardrop, a coiled snake. Deeper and deeper into the water we go, prancing around happily. I prick my foot on something and I reachin and pick it up. It's a shell, one like I've never seen before. It is a pastel blue, the color of a robins egg. It is spiky and sharp. I show it to him and he smiles. After staying in the water for a few more minutes, we go up on shore and lay on our beach blanket in the shade of our umbrella. I flip over to look at him and I grasp his hand tightly. I whisper to him that I love him, and that If I had the choice I would never have him leave me. He agrees strongly. We fall asleep in a happy silence. This is a genuine love. This is Summer love.
