Masks of Black and White
Prologue: Beginning to Fade to Black and White.
Oh, it seems I have a visitor. How unusual yet common. What is it that you come here for? Knowledge, power, or maybe even love. I cannot give those things to you, but I can tell you about them.
Let me tell you a certain story about them.
Once there was a story of a boy, a boy whose life was ruined by no one but himself. How did he do this some may wonder. There's a simple answer to this seemingly simple question. The boy had lost who he was and had no reason to exists.
...
Well, the answer doesn't seem that simple to you does it? Oh well, I guess there is more to tell. But, of course I can't just let you know this story without introducing myself. I am Blank Note. It's quite the boring name but it's mine nonetheless. I'm the one who will guide you through the story of this boy with my narrations. I hope we can get along, not that it matters that we do.
Anyways, where were we, ah yes, the story of the boy. Well, this boy was once much like me. He was bored of his life and found interest in nothing. Being such an uninterested child he had barely talked to anyone at all. It was as if he were just a doll.
...
Hm? You're wondering what this has to do with anything. Well it's true that he was like a doll with no personality, but it didn't bother him the least bit. In fact he thought he had an ideal life. Sadly, he had found something interesting in his life.
...
What? Well, you'll understand what's so bad about it. You see, when he found this thing that interested him something unusual happened, he gained the ability to read emotions. No, he doesn't have any kind of supernatural power. He just became good at reading people's emotions and thoughts. With this his life got even more ideal then before. He started getting along with everyone with fake personalities that he put up. It was so easy for him to do since he could read people's emotions. It was like he had an unlimited source of friends.
But, what must rise must fall, as they say. A tragic event had happened to the boy. So tragic it made him, who fake his own emotions, show sorrow, fear, hatred, and all kind of emotions that he never show for real. He began to questions his personality and emotions. After that he didn't know what he really thought and felt about things, he only knew what other people thought and felt. He lost who he was, along with many more important things. And after that...Well, that's all I can tell you for now.
...
What? What do you mean you want to know more? You want to know what gave the boy emotions and the tragic event. You even want to know what he lost. I see, you're different then most humans I've met. Fine, I'll guide you through this story. But I warn you, it will be a long one and tragic one. You may leave whenever you want but if you do the boy's story will never be complete.
I hope we can reach the end of this story together, dear Reader.
END OF PROLOGUE
A/N: Hello, dear Reader. I hope you enjoyed the very strange prologue of Masks of Black and White. Tell me how you liked it. But before that I want to explain some things about the Prologue.
First is the story teller, Blank Note. The most I can describe him is monotone, blunt, and non-caring. He's supposed to be imaged with somewhat of a bored and silent personality. He's the narrator of the story Masks Of Black and White. He rarely will show up during the story speaking as himself.
Next is The Reader. The Reader has no decided personality and that's because I leave it to you the reader (see what I did there) to imagine it yourself. The Reader will show up as often as Blank but doesn't have any shown dialog. It is hinted he/she speaks when Blank responds every now and then though.
