She lay, still. Peaceful in death. I saw her, mind whirring. She was mine, my little girl. I'm alone. I turned and saw him, the killer. Watched as he raised a knife, advanced, and brought it down. It entered my chest. He turned, two words escaped my lips. "Thank you."
