Hey to all you lovely readers, this poem was inspired by a nightmare I had, hence the name :) Hope you enjoy it

The Nightmare
Tick, tock, there goes the clock, hanging above the door,
Old, rusty and as thick as a block.

Tick, tock, time's running out,
Just try and hide the voices shout,
Sweat trickles down the back of my neck.

Silence!

Right, left, my eyes dart around,
My heart, pounding, beat, beat; beat, there isn't any other sound.

Darkness everywhere, trying to trap me, suffocate me,
The voices cackle in spite and hate,
They call out my name, Bree it's your fate,
They're playing a game, counting till my end.

One, two, he's behind you,
I whirl around, panic when it just sends them manic.

Three, four, there's no hope for you any more,
I trip "No" a silent scream, this isn't what it seems.

Five, six, there's no use fighting with stones and sticks,
I cry out hoping for someone to hear,
but no-one does, I lay there shivering with fear.

Seven, eight, you're going to be too late,
I get up, no I'm not going to be your meal, your bait.

Nine, ten, This is where you meet your end,
The darkness doesn't haunt me any more,
I've become apart of the midnight for evermore.

For those of you who think your clever and adorning,
Beware, heed this warning,
No one can escape the darkness!

Review to tell me what you thought of it,

Night xx
