Mo and Py have gone through physical abuse their whole life, so when they meet each other they become inseparable. But they know it won't last forever, and sure enough, Joe (Mo's Dad) goes on a killing rampage in a hospital and Frisca (Py's Mom) gets into a drunken fight. It doesn't help that Mo has broken nearly half her bones, and Py has gone, leaving police utterly confused.

A+ A- |
Hey peoples, I finished this chapter after the last, but then I had to get off so I'm posting it now. I'm not a doctor so I don't know much about hospitals, nor am I a bone genius. It's just that we just had a skeletal unit in school so after a bijillion hours of studing that stuff is stuck in my head. And there's Kathy Reichs (If you haven't read Virals, by Kathy Reichs, you REALLY need to, that is THE BEST book in the world, and trust me, I've read a lot of books.) who's a forensic anthropologist so the stuff in her books rub off on me. Please don't lecture me on how things are inaccurate or something, thanks! :)
When I wake up, I'm surrounding by a big mess of machines that make strange beeping noises. My head aches and throbs, and my leg is immobile. In fact, now that I think about it, my whole body is immobilized.
"Where..." I finally manage to stutter out, but my jaw seems to be in some sort of cast.
Tubes stick up my nose and wires connect me to a big hunk of metal. Flashing red lights blink rapidly and the beeping noise increases.
A nurse comes in and fiddles with the machine.
"Hey honey," She says while bustling around the room doing... well I'm not really sure
"You feeling alright?"
I nod weakly. "uhhhh..."
she tsks. "Don't be a hero. You've been out for about 3 days, so I suppose you've got lot's of questions."
She's right about that at least, I've got enough questions to last a lifetime. Not that I could ask her most of them.
"Ummm..." Well, for someone that has an unlimited supply of questions, I'm surprised that I don't now where to start.
"Psh, come one 'hon. You've got to have something better to say then 'umm" huh? Now, what would you like to know. Seems to me that... ah." The nurse looks slightly crestfallen at a clip board.
"Mmmm... Both of your parents happen to be in jail at this point..." She looks up.
"Not surprised, eh? I'm Dr. Solemon, you can call me Sal."
It's all I can do not to snort. Not at her name, but at the jail comment.
"So they were finally caught?" I say. "Guess I'm not surprised. Py told, didn't she." It's not a question, I know she did. I can faintly remember her telling me that. "It's over, Mo." I sigh. Where will my life lead me now?
The nurse looks sharply up. "Py?"
I nod. "Yeah, she's my friend. We're practically homies. Wait. We are homies." I doesn't matter what she knows. Py has probably told everyone everything by now. Depressing thoughts...
"Py?" She shakes her head, obviously confused. "Whatever. Anyways, what would you like to know? Or should I just tell you it all at once and let you ask those questions later?"
"Tell me it all at once. How else will I know where to start?"
Dr. Solemon frowns. "Well, to to start with, you're famous."
Well that's no surprise. Not much of this is. I mean, how often do you get two teenage girls that have been physically abused all of their lives that just happen to live next door, and also just happen to live next door and be best friends?
"Yes?" I prod further.
"Well, it's a very long story."
I glare weakly at her. Usually it's very effective, but I doubt that when wrapped up in plaster and gauze it's not in particular.
She chuckles again. This is becoming a very annoying habbit.
"Impatient are we Mohe..."
"Mo," I interrupt. "Please, I hate the name Mohegan."
She shrugs. It's irrelevant to her.
"Back to the story."
I sit eagerly, trying to prop myself up, but failing miserably. Dr. Solemon presses a perfectly manicured hand on my shoulder and pushes me back down, giving me a warning look.
"No."
There's a pause (will you just get on with it Dr. S?)
"Anyways, start with your injuries. You've broken your left femur, and created a fracture in your left humerus and you've got some nasty cuts along your back and left side. And, to add to the damage, you are totally black and blue. But, That's pretty good from what I can tell. Your sister said that you tried to climb up to some tree house and fell, like, 20 feet or something. Very impressive, practiced fall from..."
I don't listen to. Yes, I tried to climb the tree and fell, but it's the other thing that worries me. My sister? What?
"Mo? MO?" Dr. Solemon shouts in my ear. She scribbles something on a clipboard. I shake my head. The wince. Ow, that hurt.
"My... my sister?" I say faintly, "Who... who's my sister?"
Dr. Solemon frowns, then says, "Why Mo, your sister, Puyallup. Py, as I was to call her. You didn't know?"
Py is my sister. Py. Is. My. Sister.
"No, I didn't know."
And then I passed out.
Well, how was it? I know this is kinda short and the cliff hanger is... well a cliff hanger, so I'm sorry about that. I just wanted to keep it short and sweet.. or not so sweet, but that doesn't matter. I think Joe should get into a car crash or something and Frisca should kill something like 15 people in drunken rage. Tell me what you think by REVIEWING! Thanks again :)
