Sherry: Why don't us characters appear as much in preauthor scenes?
Amalric: Probably because WE'RE IN THE STORY.
Sherry: I still feel unwanted...
Chi: Why is my name still shortened?
William: So what are we even doing here?
James: EXPLODE THE ROOM!
Sherry: WHAT?! EVERYONE RUN!
~the line break~
"Congratulations, Candy." Candy and Nathaniel were walking out the auditorium, holding hands and talking.
"Congratulations, Nathaniel." All of the past students were doing the same; some left early to catch a flight to another country where they'll be learning magic under a master.
"What should we do? It's not like they require magicians to do something after graduation. For all they care, we could just sit on a bush for the rest of our lives." It was only required that they finish school. Their lives could be normal after that, but if they chose this road, the could not tell any normal humans about magic.
"Isn't it tradition to get our staffs?" Most of the students headed off to the forests and caves to get the materials for their staffs. A few chose to stay at school and fine-tune their skills before doing so, but everyone got them within a month of graduating if they chose to stay as a magician. The select few who left for another country got their staffs once they found their masters.
"Then shouldn't we go too?"
"But I'm going to get mine first!" Candy raced off towards the school exit.
"I'm not waiting, Nathan! Hurry up!" And she dashed out of the school.
~this line break brings back Sherry POV~
"I hope we never see that annoyance ever again," I huffed. That horribly annoying smug, arrogant little...thing. Wait...why do I hate him again? Uh...
"Honestly, Amalric. Why did you even choose to work with them?" Aika inquired.
"It...it just seemed like a good idea at the time," he answered.
"Well then you must have been slightly wrong in the head at the time,"Chiari joked.
"What are you saying, Chi? He always seems slightly off."
"Well, guys. I guess it's time for me to start adventuring again!" Aika exclaimed.
"That's great! You're coming out of your 'shell,' Aika!" I yelled.
"I hate that phrase. It's used mostly against introverts to force them to become extroverts. 'That's great! You're finally coming out of your shell and talking to people?' It's horrible."
"On a different topic, we'll have to help you train a bit more."
"W...wow! I get to train with Aika? YAY!"
"Don't be fooled. She's like a devil when it comes to training."
"D...devil?" I gulped.
"Yeah. And if you don't pass my test at the end of training..." She smiled evilly.
"I...I...I...u...under...st...stand..." I started backing away.
"Good." I noticed that we had walked somewhere while talking. I turned around. I could still see the lake in the distance. We weren't far from where we were before.
"Where are we?"
"This is where we're going to train."
"TRAINING STARTS NOW!"
"100 PUSH-UPS AND SIT-UPS!"
"How does this have anything to do with magic?!"
"LESS QUESTIONS AND MORE WORKING! I'M TIMING YOU! DO THIS IN UNDER 5 MINUTES!"
~a wild line break appears and I freak out~
An hour later...
"WHAT ARE YOU RESTING FOR?! GET UP! GET UP! TRAINING'S ONLY STARTED AND YOU'RE TIRED?! YOU WEAKLING!"
"Don't...judge...me...," I managed to whisper.
"WHAT?! I CAN BARELY HEAR YOU BEHIND ALL THAT GASPING AND WHEEZING! SPEAK CLEARLY!"
"Aika...don't you think you're overdoing it...a bit too much...?" Chiari asked.
"YOU NAIVE GIRL!" Aika screamed at Chiari.
"NOW, SHERRY. RUN TO THE LAKE, RUN 5 TIMES AROUND IT, AND RUN BACK. AND I'LL BE WATCHING."
And I took off slowly.
And I ran as fast as I could towards the lake.
"Aika...," Amalric started.
"WHAT?!" she snapped.
~line break line break line line line break~
"May I ask why we're walking around the lake, James?"
"Yeah...don't you notice these things?"
"No. I always count on you to take me places."
"Hey, who's that?" William pointed to a moving blob in the distance. James squinted.
"Isn't that..." The blob moved closer and closer.
"MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, YOU ANNOYING PERSON!" Sherry zoomed past William and James. James stared at her retreating figure.
"Annoying person?" William chuckled.
"What's she doing running around the lake?"
"Beats me. Let's leave before I have to see her face again."
"She seems nice. If you just get to know her better..."
"Shut up, Jane."
"I SAID 'NOTHING.'SHEESH. Let's leave already."
~another hour later~
I was lying on the floor, gasping for air.
"...Aika...I think she might be dying," Chiari noticed.
"EVERYONE'S DYING. YOU, ME, THAT TREE OVER THERE," she yelled back.
"YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN."
"ALL OF YOU ARE WEAKLINGS!"
"WE ALL HAVE OUR WEAKNESSES."
This went on for a few minutes. Whatever. I took the time to sleep.
~the line break gesticulates~
Olivia: This place is a mess!
Aika: We're all too lazy to clean it up...
Olivia: Clean! Now!
