Chapter Nineteen (b) - Kidnapping

"So this is the person you saw." Riota says cheerfully.

Riota either has some form of immunity to the heat or is natural freezing cold on her upper torso, as she is wearing a lilac blazer with a striped miniskirt and thigh high stockings.

Llyana turns around and waves at Riota.

"Yeah, I been wanting to talk with him, but he seems rather to keep things to himself-wait. Have you been introduced to Yuen? You were telling me that you wanted to make more friends around here."

Riota glances at Yuen before shifting back to Llyana.

"I have been acquainted with him, but I wouldn't really call us friends. We didn't really talk much, so the most I can say is his name."

Yuen clicks his tongue. Only being acquaints and yet she kissed him on their first meeting.

Riota eyes lower, but as she does that, she sees something that causes her to blush and hold herself tightly.

"By any chance, are you two, hmmm, you know."

Llyana pulls her hand away from Yuen's and retreats away from him as if he was a pest.

"Ha? Me, and him. Don't get the wrong impression here. Yuen and I are just friends. He's a nice guy and everything but I don't know trust him enough to call him my boyfriend. I mean look at him, isn't that the face of a pervert."

Yuen hears a strange crack occur in his heart.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean anything by that. It's just what I thought when I saw you two…, you know."

"The two of us were just talking. One thing leads to another, but you just happened to see us while I was holding his hand. It really didn't mean anything - and which get-well card did you buy? Did you choose the one with the monkey and horse like I said?"

Llyana chatters quickly, trying to change the topic, but everyone is well-aware that her blood is rising to Llyana's face in an unrivaled fashion.

"Is the topic about boys really that embarrassing for you?" Riota questions.

"What makes you say that!? I can freely talk about boys! They are like any other topic or clothes I talk about! HAHA!"

"But… but, why are turning so red then?"

"ME! RED! I'm always red like this! This is what happens to me when I'm out in the sun for too long. Don't you feel hot? I feel hot now. We should get a move on! Cold air is what I need."

"Are sure you're feeling okay then. People usually don't turn red like this in the sun. Maybe we should get you checked in the hospital as we visit Midori."

"HAH! Did I say hot? I meant to say I feel perfectly fine!"

A visibly triumphant Llyana puffs up with pride.

People passing through the main street are turning to them with "What? What?" kind of looks.

"Who are you trying to fake here Llyana?" Yuen mutters, but its silent only for himself to hear, as mature adult would do to not cause a scene in public.

Under this embarrassing childish act, Yuen finds his opening out of this conversation. Just a few words and he could leave without causing the slightest attention to him.

"This sounds like girl talk, so... I'm going to get going."

Yuen walks off and waves goodbye to the two girls who were in a rather, colorful conversation, as he left. He is about two steps when suddenly-

A hand grabs him at a sonic boom speed. Yuen, unable to resist the force exerted by the girl's fingers, has to turn his head around. Riota is holding him. She holds a smile, but clearly this is a façade as he can feel his hand losing blood.

"Please don't leave so promptly Yuen."

"I don't think you're giving me a choice." Yuen replies.

The grip is surprisingly strong coming from a delicate looking girl.

"Forgive me if this seems sudden, but unlike what the flower and card suggest, I'm actually on duty and I need to ask you some questions."

It just occurs to Yuen that this must have been the person who had questioned Llyana about Ikaris' whereabouts.

"I have been given the task to collect information on a case that took place two nights ago and because of that, I actually need to talk with you. You must be wondering exactly what I want to ask you about."

"I'm more thinking as in why bother to ask me."

"Valid question as well. To be simple and quick to the point, I have to question you about a kidnapping of a girl known as Ikaris. She was recently identified to be at the Everlasting Bridge but apparently she vanished some time during the Unborn incident. I was heading towards Midori to ask him some questions about you, but, seeing how we crossed path, I think I rather talk to you directly."

Yuen sighs and looks around. Llyana is doing her best to avoid eye contact with him at the moment, and there is not a passing person for Yuen to use as a distraction.

Riota turns to Llyana and hands her the flower and card.

"My apologizes Llyana, but it seem like I won't be able to visit Midori at the moment. Can you please give him these for me and tell him have a fast recovery?"

"I can." Llyana responds.

"Thank you." Riota says, before she turns back and looks at Yuen. "Now, if you are ready, I would love to start asking you some questions."

"Is it possible we can appoint this for some other time? Right now isn't a great time for me as I have things I need to do. Besides the middle of an open public street doesn't look like the best place for me to answer serious questions. It would be better suited if we did it at a station or something."

"You're absolutely right Yuen. This isn't the best place and that's why I took the liberty to text my associates to give us a ride back to the station. She should be arriving very shortly. I apologize if everything seems to be going too fast, but I can't let a suspect leave because you never know what they might do."

"Suspect!?"

Those words comes out his mouth uncontrollably.

"Did I say something wrong?"

"You just called me a suspect. Of course I am shocked. What makes me a suspect in this case?"

"I'm sorry, but that is what I have to call you at the moment. I would rather wish not to call you a suspect, but your hesitation to help our case and the fact that you were the last person with the girl before she disappeared, means you are our prime suspect."

Yuen glares at Llyana. Llyana can feel the intense angry coming out from him and takes a step away from him.

A car pulls up next to them. There is only one person in the car, and that is the driver. Riota opens the door to the back seat and extends her arm to Yuen.

"It seems like our ride is here Yuen. Please enter the car. If you do not follow as asked, I will have to use force."

Yuen bites his tongue.

"I don't have much of a choice here."

"Whatever you have to do, we'll send a message informing them that you had unexpected business with the police. The people will understand. Besides, if you are truly innocent, then there is nothing to worry about. All we want is information to help find the girl. So please, take a seat in the car and we can be on our way."

With reluctance, Yuen spits out his words.

"Fine."

Yuen enters the back of the car took his seat.

Right before entering, Riota glances at Llyana and says, "I'm sorry our little date had to end like this. Maybe we can spend more time together when I'm not actually working."

Llyana nods.

"I want that too, but please don't be so rough on Yuen. I know you want to find Ikaris, but Yuen is innocent. Ikaris actually likes him so I doubt he did anything bad to her."

"I wish for that as well, but I have to do what I have to. Until he helps us, we have to view him as a possible suspect. Good bye now and take care."

Ritoa enters the car. The car drives off.
