Chapter 1
"See ya later!"
I made a mad dash to the bus stop. I had gotten up late and had to eat breakfast and get ready in ten minutes. As I ran I almost tripped several times, in the end I tripped and slammed right into my best friend, Alyssa.
"I know we're best friends and everything Hallie, but that does not mean you can run into me every other day!" she yelled. I just smiled at her.
Alyssa was a strange person. She was a smart person, and made sure everyone knew it. I swear she knew even more than the teachers at school. I was the only person that she was really nice to. She tended to scare everyone else.
I helped her off the ground. When she was off the ground she used her fingers to comb out her curly blond hair. She was much taller than me; then again most of our school was taller than me. Just as she got all the grass out of her hair, the bus pulled up in front of us.
"Come on." Alyssa said, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. I followed her onto the bus, and luckily there was a seat open for us.
Everyone was slowly trying to squish themselves against the walls of the bus as we walked to the open seat. Did I mention that she scares everyone? I don't know why, it might be that she always looks emotionless.
The bus ride would have felt longer but I had to finish homework. At that point I was glad Alyssa was there to help me. The school we went to was large and crammed. There was over one thousand kid that went to the school. I did about average in every class. When the bus finally arrived at the school, we got off and went about our day.
The bus ride home was really boring because Alyssa had to stay after school for a club meeting. The weird thing was that she wouldn't tell me what the club was, but oh well. I was kind of excited to get home because I didn't have any homework and I could just relax when I got there. While I waited for the bus to stop at my stop, I started to wonder what I could do tomorrow, considering it was Friday today.
I almost slammed my head into the seat in front of me, when the bus finally got to my stop. I quickly grabbed my things and got off the bus. I ran to my house and quickly went up stairs to put my stud down in my room.
"Hallie, there's a snack in the fridge if you want it!" my mom yelled from down stairs. Before I could answer, my stomach answered for me, and I went down stairs to get that snack.
I opened the fridge to find two vanilla and chocolate puddings waiting there to be eaten.
As if my mom had read my mind, she said, "The other one is for your sister." So I grabbed both of them and two spoons, and went to the living room where my little sister was.
In my opinion my little sister was the most adorable thing on the Earth. She looked a little like me, with here brown hair. The only difference was she had blue eyes, instead of my brown. She was kind of short for a six-year-old and she was a little chubby, but that just added to her cuteness.
"Here you go." I handed her the pudding and spoon. She gave me a giant smile and stared eating.
"Don't forget, you have to take Alicia to the park tomorrow." Mom reminded me.
"Yeah, I know." I replied and that ended that.
The rest of the day went day pretty fast. Dad came home a little after I had gotten home. We ate dinner around an hour after Dad got home. Soon after dinner Mom, Dad, and Alicia went to bed, while I stayed up reading. Though, tonight I didn't just do that. I just laid in my bed and stared at the ceiling. I don't know why, but I felt like something was going to happen tomorrow.
I fingered the necklace around my neck. I had always had it. My parents said that I had worn it when I was a baby and that I would cry if they tried to take it off. The necklace's pendant had a red jewel that looked like a flame and was encased in a clear amber-like stone. The chain was simply silver, but I always like it was flawless.
I looked at the clock and saw that it was ten thirty. I turned out the lights and closed my eyes.
