I was sitting at my computer, typing away on the keyboard, pausing only to take a drink from the can red can of Dr. Pepper sitting on the desktop. And then IT happened.

My name is Zack Dobe, or, as my nickname is, Omega. I'm just a 16-year-old guy living in the small but beautiful town of Auburn, New Hampshire. Situated around Lake Massabeisic, Auburn was mainly a forest of deciduous trees with pines thrown into the mix, and wildlife was abundant.

I've lived there all my life, but when I get older, I plan on moving up to the White Mountains, where there are even more spectacular views. But right now, I'm a Sophomore taking online classes. I have Asperger's, so I have a tough time learning in a public classroom, so when I don't understand a problem, I just don't focus and write instead. It's my best skill, creating fiction and posting it on the internet.

I scratch my chin, noting that I have to shave the few prickly hairs there, which weren't even all that visible. I wear a light grey hoodie with the hood pulled over so that the shadow hides my eyes, and I kept the sleeves rolled up to my elbows. I like to have on dark blue jeans and black fingerless gloves, with white/blue Asics shoes.

That day was like any other weekday; do 2 hours of school work, fool around on the internet for the whole day, get my sister at the bus stop, then get home for dinner. But, as I typed up my story, I heard a faint high-pitched whine. I shook my head, thinking something had gotten in my ear, but it didn't leave. In fact, it sounded louder than it did before. I grabbed the katana I had hung up on the wall of my study and unsheathed it, the metal gleaming from the bulb overhead. It was real, manufactured in Japan and I bought it for $300. Why? Because I love Japanese culture, and the katana was the greatest sword of all time.

I followed the sound into the small boiler room of my house; the door was shut, but a light shone through under the seam. I opened it, and was immediately confused.

The thing that was inside was truly hard to explain; it looked like someone had shattered the air like glass, and the little shards had been suspended in animation. It shone with a brilliant white light that, even though incredibly bright, didn't blind me. It was almost beautiful in a way I can't describe.

Suddenly, I felt some invisible force grab hold of me and began pulling me to whatever that thing was. I panicked, trying to grab hold of a pipe to keep myself from going in, but as it turns out, it was scalding. I let go with a yell of pain, and was immediately sucked into the bright white light.

So I know this is short, but it IS a prolougue. I guarantee the next chapter will be longer.
