A piece of poetry written for no purpose except to describe the way I view only the closest friends, figuratively about a wolf pack and the bond they share.

"Why the Wolf Howls"
Series: The Loyal Opposition
By: Legkicker
The lone wolf howls in desperation, his voice lost amidst the cold and unforgiving terrain of the vast Yukon landscape. His cry promotes a tale of loneliness, of hopelessness and longing for companionship. Alone, the wolf raises his voice to the sky and expresses his feelings of solitude.
But the pack howls a different tune. It is united, bonded, and molded by this common share of vocalization. Their howls of unison fail to express sorrow, but rather their cries display their bond and strength as one effective and versatile unit. They howl to warn those listening to heed caution towards the winds, that when crossed paths come together they will not back down from a challenge.
Nothing alien breaks apart a pack, nothing foreign can intrude upon the trust bestowed within each individual wolf. Packs only dissolve from within, once the bond is broken…and thus the lone wolf is born.
Now the lone wolf howls for his past, his memories once a light in the darkest of tunnels but now clouding that light from his vision. The night moon taunts his pain, its shine bright enough for him to see but too far for his reach. So he calls out to it, wishing it closer.
All too often this fate occurs, and a pack splits apart. But once in a blue moon, a pack will remain together for the entirety of their lives. While some members of this pack may become mere shadows, taken by the elements, others boast the same intensity of trust until the day their spirits set forth into the afterlife realm. Scars reflect upon battles won and confrontations lost, and their willpower to continue moving forwards reflects upon their impenetrable bond.
Nothing is more deadly, fearsome, or loyal than a wolf and his pack.
Thanks for reading!
