A poem inspired by the swan princess fairy tale and it's movie rendition. I originally named the poem after the princess Odette, but because my name is Odette I decided to call it Swan Princess.

Swan Princess
The water is smooth as glass.
Reflecting the fantasy like forest.
That surrounds the ruins.
Superimposed on the mirror like surface.
The clear sweet air blows.
Caressing everything it touches.
Flower petals and falling leaves.
Dancing in the breeze.
The sun shines overhead.
There in middle of the sparkling pool.
It waits silently floating above.
The surface of the lake unmarred.
By the wings gentle glide.
Pristine white feathers,
Long graceful neck,
Eyes masked by black.
As it swims through the archway,
Covered in Passion Flower Clematis.
While Pearly Gates Climbing Roses line the walls.
Blue Moon Wisteria hangs from above.
As it waits there under blooming vines,
It fluffs its wings back the ends shaping into a heart.
That seems elegant and angelic all at once.
As the light of the moon shines in the now dark sky,
Inside the reflection it floats.
Ribbons of water ascend in a spiral.
Obscuring it from sight.
When the water cascades down.
She is revealed to be not what she seemed.
Now the ballerina of the lake,
Has shown her true form.
Vanilla Blonde locks fall.
Around a heart shaped face.
Thin with graceful curves.
Full red lips and twilight blue eyes.
A melancholic smile crosses her lips.
Never rejoicing in her brief respite.
As the sun starts to rise,
The moon sinks down behind the tower.
Ribbons of water spiral once more,
Around her form it closes.
Agony and longing appear on her visage.
Her curse coming full circle,
Cascading around her for the last time.
Another day in her feathered form.
The embodiment of elegance and grace,
Waiting still and silent on the glass like surface.
Till the silvery light touches.
The defeated angel's form once more.
