My heart, felt heavy when I looked at her. I couldn't stop looking at her it was as though I was in a trance. I woke from this trance to find the woman was being attacked by a group of five or six men. I knew it was not my place to meddle in the affairs of these humans but my head was hurting because of the fall and I wasn't thinking straight.

I jumped down into the ally and landed in between the men and the woman. They stared at me dumbstruck for a moment then became trigger happy.

"That is not going to do anything," I said bluntly as bullets crushed themselves against my thick demon hide.

"What the hell are you?" one of the men said with fear in his voice.

I smirked revealing my vampire like fangs and started to slowly walk toward them, "Hell. That is exactly what I am," I grabbed the man by the collar, I was a good foot and a half taller than he was so I lifted him off the ground. His face was covered in sweat and his breath smelled of alcohol.

"Please God, don't hurt me!" he was crying and swarming.

"You are pitiful, mortal. You are lucky I am in a good mood so I will not kill you, but if I ever see you again I will rip your head off and shove it up your ass. Got it?" I dropped the man to the ground and he crawled back to his cohorts. I turned around and walked towards the woman and wrapped my arms around her. Her heart was beating at a pace faster than a runner's. As I took off felt a sharp pain in the back of my knee. I flew a few roofs over and landed. "Are you okay?"

"Yes" she stared at me with eyes full of fear and gratitude. I smiled then fell over from the sharp pain in my leg. "Are you okay!?" I felt blood start to run down my leg. "We need to get you medical treatment now."

She started to walk to go get help, but I grabbed her arm. "Do you really think that someone is going to help me? All I need is some gauze to keep blood flow down and I will be fine." She looked at me as though as I was insane.

"Well, can you walk down stairs? We're on top of my apartment building." I stood up with the little energy that I had and we walked down stairs is silence during which time I got a good time to look at this woman. She was about a foot shorter than me and had long, straight, brown hair, which was still wet from the rain. Her hazel eyes were dark with confusion but had a glow in them that was of a great caring. We got to the fifth floor and went to apartment 904. When I stepped inside I looked around as the woman went to the bathroom to get medical supplies. Every way I looked it seemed no different from home. There was however a large coco clock on the far wall. The woman came back and sat down beside me. "Take off your clothes."

"Why?" I didn't see any reason it the request.

"I need to wash the wound as well as your pants, and I was going to look at those bruises from the bullets." she was being nice to a giant monster it surprised me but I did as I was told and took off all but my underwear. "You never told me your name," she said as she patched a bruise on my shoulder.

"My name is Matthias Kanedred, and what of yours?"

"My name is Helen Frazier, and may I ask why do you talk like that?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"You talk like a knight of the round table and you don't use conjunctions."

"Oh, I suppose it is something I just picked up."

"You know you're surprisingly resilient and all of your wounds are almost healed," she said as she wrapped gauze around my leg.

"I have always been a fast healer. Helen, I would like to know, why are you helping me?"

"You saved my life and I wanted to repay you properly." Her voice had a strange tone to it.

"You seem distracted, is something wrong?"

"No." she got in front of me and sat on my lap. She then took off her shirt and pants. "I told you I want to thank you properly so that's what I'll do." She pushed me down onto the couch and kissed me. I had no clue what I was to do, so I held her close and put myself at her mercy.

When I awoke I was on the couch looking up at the ceiling. I turned my head to the coco clock and blew my hair out of my eyes. It read three thirty so I got up without disturbing Helen and went to her laundry room and got my clothes, now free of blood, and put them on. After I got everything I walked to her balcony and opened the door. I looked back on the strange woman and felt gratitude towards her for helping a demon such as myself.

I got back to my clearing and it was still dark though I didn't care for the time; I just wanted to sleep. I crept back to my room and fell in to a deep, dreamless, sleep. When I awoke there was a smell of bacon, eggs, and toast. I remembered it was Saturday and my mother always cooked breakfast on Saturdays. I gave no thought of how much I had been missing out upon only thinking of training.

My family was sitting at the table when I got to the kitchen. They looked as though they were a family on a sitcom my dad was reading the paper, my mom nibbling away happily humming "Yellow Submarine", and Kelsey was staring at her plate. She could tell I had walked in the room and refused to look at me.

"Good morning, Matthew. How are you?" my mom said as I sat down.

"I am fine," I listened to myself talk and heard my speech pattern but didn't care.

"Don't you and Brook have plans today?" my dad asked.

"Sorry, I do not remember having any," which was true. My sister gave me a stare of venom much as I had given her the day before.

"Brook said you, her, and Alex were going to the park. You might want to go; you don't want to keep her waiting," my father said in a mischievous tone. I left after breakfast and got my bike. It was strange to ride after I had gotten so used to my wings. When I had arrived at the park Brook and Alex were sitting on the swings.

"Hey, man!" Alex greeted me kindly. Brook however didn't and blushed when I looked at her.

"What did you wish to see me for?" I asked with a raised eyebrow as we walked over to the zip lines. Alex pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and unfolded it. It had a very bad drawing of a fairy holding a sword on it.

"I figured we could start a club and you know, protect and help monsters and stuff," I didn't take two seconds for my answer.

"No," I told them, "there are things in this world not meant for our eyes. I am in danger every second because of what I am. I will not get either of you involved in my problems."

"Matt," Alex put his hand on my shoulder, "you may think of us as stupid kids, but that's what we are, kids. I don't know what made you choose to be what you are. We're choosing it because we now have a chance most men never get. Besides we want to help you, if you'll let us." I looked at Brook and she nodded at me in agreement.

"Now you are the one who sounds like you are from the movies," he blinked a couple of times not comprehending what I said and then started to laugh. "I still do not want to get you involved, but you are not giving me much of a choice. I will tell you if anything happens in the area, but I will not be looking after you always and some 'monsters' as you put it can be deadly so be careful, please."

They nodded their heads and we stood there for a minute. "So, what do you guys want to do?" Brook said hastily.

"We are at a park so let's play," Alex stated. I looked at my friends as they ran off to play. It reminded me that even if I was a demon I'm still a kid. "Matt, are you coming or not?" I ran off to join my friends.
