You know you want to forget.
God knows you've tried.
Time after time,
But to no avail.
It's hard to get your head,
And your heart,
To agree.
Still you try.
There's no denying
What your heart tells.
But reason
Is with your head.
Baby steps, because
Rome wasn't built in a day,
Because you're only human,
Because you can't rush a heart.
So we forget, day by day.
We move on, slowly.
We don't let it get to us.
And we hold our heads high.
