She was used to the whispers. They were all she'd ever known. She couldn't walk through town without picking up on some of it.

Monster. Demon. A curse. A sin. The people would murmur as she passed them, facing straight ahead with her head high and eyes indifferent. They acted as if it was her choice to be like this; Her choice to be alone, unwanted.

At first glance, it would be impossible to see why she was shunned by all who knew her. She had flawless skin, the color of fresh cream. Her hair was black as a starless night, a waterfall of smooth curls. Her eyes were equally dark with flecks of blue; Wide and innocent.

But if one looked harder, they could see her... abnormalities. Her skin was perhaps too flawless. She didn't have a single freckle or blemish. She never blushed, and her wide eyes remained calm and emotionless at all times. Even when she smiled, which was incredibly rare, it never touched her eyes. She was remarkably quiet for a six year old, and resourceful enough to live on her own. She read better even than many of the most educated men in her village.

Despite all of that, her physical oddities could be overlooked. The strangest of her traits, however, her food choice, was a bit harder to ignor.

Her only source of nutrition... was blood.
